The launch of the refreshed Renault Kwid, which has been spied on India’s roads, is expected soon. The Kwid facelift will be part of Renault’s “rethink strategy”, said Venkatram Mamillapalle, managing director of Renault India, recently at the launch of the Renault Kiger facelift. The Kwid was last given a major update in 2019.

Renault’s entry-level model will get fresh Y-shaped LED daytime running lamps (DRLs), similar to those on the third-generation Duster that is sold overseas and slated for an India launch in 2026. Among other updates will be Y-shaped tail-lamps, new bumpers and pentagonal halogen headlamps. From what can be observed in the camouflaged car, the new Kwid is likely to feature the same design elements as the Dacia Spring EV, which was launched in Europe last year.

The design similarities extend to the side as well, with the same edgy fenders, wheel arches, wheel design, flap door handles and a slightly sloping roofline.

A few tech and safety upgrades and cosmetic changes are also expected, such as six airbags, a bigger infotainment display (likely to be 10 inches), a new steering wheel design and a new instrument cluster design, as seen in the spy shots. Judging by the image above, the new Kwid can be expected to have the same interior design as its sister model, the Dacia Spring EV.

The spy shots captured an exhaust pipe on the facelift, confirming that the new Kwid will continue with the ICE format in India. The Kwid is currently available only with a 68hp, 1.0-litre petrol engine paired with a manual or an AMT gearbox and is priced between Rs 4.70 lakh and Rs 6.50 lakh.
