New Volkswagen Polo Edition 50 marks 5 decades of hatchback

    To celebrate the Polo's 50th anniversary this year, Volkswagen has revealed a limited-run Edition 50. The new Polo edition is based on the second-from-base Style trim, featuring exterior and interior upgrades. VW has priced the Polo Edition 50 at 28,200 euros in Germany (approximately Rs 27.88 lakh).

    3. Gets a 1-litre TSI motor with manual and auto gearbox options

    Volkswagen Polo Edition 50: what’s new?

    Exterior

    Unique to Edition 50 are striking Crystal Blue metallic paint and a 3D badge ‘50’ on the B-pillar. 16-inch ‘Coventry’ wheels come as standard, but buyers can upgrade to larger 17-inch ‘Torosa’ wheels, and rear windows get a dark tint.

    Interior

    Edition 50’s sports seats and badging on the steering wheel, front door sills and dashboard add to its exclusivity. This edition also gets an optional panoramic sunroof (with the Plus package), otherwise reserved for the higher-ranked variants. Two-zone automatic AC and keyless entry are also part of the Plus package.

    Other equipment on board includes chrome-finished pedals, ambient lights, a black headliner, heating for front seats, rearview camera and drive modes.

    Volkswagen Polo Edition 50: powertrain

    1-litre turbo petrol engine

    Under the hood of the Polo Edition 50 is a 95hp, 175Nm 1-litre, 3-cylinder, turbo-petrol engine mated to either a 5-speed manual or a 7-speed dual-clutch automatic. Notably, the same TSI mill can be had in a higher 116hp, 200Nm tune, albeit with the DCT only.
