MG ZS sold as the VS in Thailand

MG has revealed the facelifted ZS EV and Astor SUV for international markets. Both models showcase major styling changes at the front and minor updates to the sides and the rear, closely resembling the MG VS hybrid SUV that’s currently on sale in Thailand. However, there is no word on whether these models will be coming to India anytime soon.

  2. Expected to retain same powertrains as current versions

MG Astor, ZS EV facelifts: exterior design

Compared to the current MG ZS EV and Astor, the facelifted models now showcase a whole new front fascia that includes a reworked front grille and headlamps. The new front bumper sports a unique diamond pattern and gets large intakes at the sides. In profile, both models remain the same except for the redesigned alloy wheels. At the rear too the ZS EV and Astor facelifts remain relatively the same.

MG Astor, ZS EV facelifts: expected powertrains

There’s no word yet on the powertrain details of the facelifted ZS EV and Astor, as both are based on the Thailand-spec VS that’s powered by a hybrid powertrain. However, it is expected that the ZS EV facelift will continue with the 50.3kWh battery pack from the current car that offers a claimed range of 461km. It is also likely to be powered by the same front-axle-mounted electric motor that produces 176hp and 280Nm of torque.

Similar to the ZS EV facelift, the Astor facelift is also expected to retain the 110hp, 144Nm, 1.5-litre naturally aspirated four-cylinder petrol engine and the 140hp, 220Nm, 1.3-litre, three-cylinder turbo-petrol engine.

MG India’s upcoming plans

The automaker is currently gearing up to launch the Hector facelift in India by next month. Additionally, MG will also be launching the Air compact city car, which will be its second electric car in the market, after the ZS EV.
