Patent images of Mahindra’s BE.05 SUV coupe have surfaced online giving us a glimpse of what to expect from its final design. Slated to be the third born-EV SUV from Mahindra, the BE.05 will go on sale after the XUV.e8 and the XUV.e9 SUVs.

    1. BE.05 patents show close-to-production design
    2. To get a 79kWh battery pack; RWD and AWD options
    3. To rival the Tata Curvv EV, Creta EV and Maruti eVX

    Mahindra BE.05 road testing underway

At the moment, the first three Mahindra born-EV SUVs, the XUV.e8, the XUV.e9 and the BE.05, have been spotted on road tests at many parts of the country.

The patent images confirm a sharp-looking SUV coupe with a sculpted front design and a steeply raked front windshield. It also gets angular styling with multiple cuts and creases all around. The SUV will also get a panoramic glass roof and LED light bar at the back.

Mahindra BE.05: what else is known?

The BE.05 will come with 2WD and 4WD powertrain options. The BE.05 2WD will get a rear-mounted motor producing 210kW (286hp) and 535Nm. The 4WD variants will get a second motor on the front axle producing 80kW (109hp) and 135Nm. The BE.05 will use a 79kWh unit battery with LFP cells, which are claimed to have a greater energy density, a slower discharge rate, no thermal propagation and charging times of 0-80 percent in 30 minutes.

The Mahindra BE.05 SUV will sit above the upcoming XUV300 EV and the recently updated XUV400 EV when it launches in October 2025. This means it’ll contend with the likes of the MG ZS EV, and the upcoming Tata Curvv EV, Maruti’s eVX, and Hyundai’s Creta EV.
