JLR’s Solihull plant production pause: All you need to know
Amidst the pause, supplier talks are ongoing, and the workforce is unaffected
This is the second recent production halt at JLR’s Solihull plant. The previous shutdown took place in September after a cyberattack forced the company to stop operations across all its manufacturing facilities, including Solihull, for six weeks. The disruption reportedly cost the company about GBP 5 million (around Rs 62.79 crore) per day.
This time, however, Tata Motors Passenger Vehicles Limited clarified in a stock exchange filing that it “does not anticipate any material impact on its overall operations or financial performance”. According to a Reuters report, the production pause is expected to last less than two weeks, as it overlaps with a pre-scheduled five-day shutdown for the Easter holidays.
The company also said it has been in constant communication with the relevant supplier and that all discussions around the supply chain issues were part of routine business operations. Hence, employees will continue to attend the site as usual during the temporary pause.
