JLR has revealed the production-spec Range Rover Electric and its technical details while also opening bookings here in India for a token amount of Rs 10 lakh. Prospective buyers can book the Range Rover Electric standard wheelbase in Autobiography trim and the long-wheelbase model in SV, SV Ultra and SV Black versions. The company is also accepting bookings for the standard wheelbase Range Rover Electric First Edition, with Belgravia Green, Santorini Black and Varesine Blue exterior colour options. The electric SUV gets a 118.5kWh battery pack providing a range of up to 600km (on the WLTP cycle); in real-world conditions, the company claims a range of 535km.

Range Rover Electric: Platform, range and charging time
The Range Rover Electric is built on the Flexible Modular Longitudinal Architecture (MLA-Flex), which also underpins the SUV’s internal combustion engine (ICE) and plug-in hybrid versions. The EV’s massive 118.5kWh battery pack powers two electric motors with a combined output of up to 550hp and 850Nm. The manufacturer claims a 0-100kph sprint time of 4.5 seconds. With a 350kW DC fast charger, a 10-80 percent charge can be achieved in just 22 minutes, while a 10-minute top-up can add 220km of range.
In single-pedal driving, the electric SUV can climb slopes of up to 45 degrees. The EV also gets the brand’s Intelligent Driveline Dynamics system, which distributes torque depending on the terrain to help prevent loss of traction. Furthermore, the car’s traction management system controls motor speed within 50 milliseconds and manages slip up to 100 times quicker than an ICE vehicle equivalent, the carmaker stated. Like the ICE version, water-wading capability is rated at 900mm. Air suspension will be offered as well.
Range Rover Electric: Exterior highlights
When it comes to the exterior, JLR has kept the Range Rover Electric closely aligned with its ICE counterpart rather than making major design changes. It carries over the same LED headlights, daytime running lights (DRLs) and tail-lights, the signature graphic on the front doors, flush-fitting door handles, dual shark-fin antennas, a rear spoiler hiding the wiper, as well as the silver-coloured trims on the tailgate and rear bumper.
The EV is distinguished mainly by its aero-optimised front grille and wheels. In fact, there is no ‘Electric’ lettering anywhere on the body to distinguish it from the ICE version. Since it’s an EV, there are no exhaust pipes either.
The Range Rover Electric looks so similar to the existing ICE model that Range Rover’s global production manager Rachel Hogg said, “We haven’t needed to camouflage any of our prototypes.”
Range Rover Electric: Interior and features
Inside, it is even more difficult to tell the Range Rover Electric apart from the ICE version. The steering wheel, dashboard, drive mode selector, centre console and screens all look familiar. Like in the ICE version, the digital driver’s display measures 13.7 inches, while the touchscreen is a 13.1-inch unit. That said, the EV gets an AI-based range predictor. A ‘digital twin’ that monitors the battery's health and other important stats will be standard across the Range Rover Electric line-up as well.
Depending on the trim level, features such as a panoramic sunroof, a branded sound system, multi-zone climate control and heated, ventilated and massaging seats, among others, are expected to be offered with the India-spec Range Rover Electric. Given that it’s a Range Rover SUV, a long list of custom options is also likely.
Range Rover Electric: Expected price
The Range Rover Electric is manufactured at the carmaker’s Solihull plant in the UK and will arrive here as a fully imported model. Being an EV, it will not qualify for any tariff concessions under the India-UK Free Trade Agreement. It is expected to have a starting price of around Rs 3.5 crore, ex-showroom.
