Jeep Compass Trailhawk India launch later this year

We have just driven the Jeep Compass Trailhawk, in Australia and we will have the review online, soon. For now, however, we have news to share - the Trail Rated version of the Compass is definitely headed to our shores, later this year.

Interestingly, the car we drove was an Australian-spec model, made in India – and powered by the same 2.0-litre diesel as the one in India. It was, however, mated to a nine-speed automatic transmission. India currently only gets a 2.0-litre diesel mated to a manual and a 1.4-litre petrol mated to an auto.

Jeep isn’t confirming any specifications for the Trailhawk version, right now. They say that the  new models are still being worked on; and as the FCA plant in Pune manufactures and exports Compass’ to all right-hand drive markets, Jeep India can, technically, bring any of the available specs to the country.

Trail Rated Jeeps are designed to take on tougher terrain than regular Jeeps and come equipped with serious off-road kit. The Compass Trailhawk comes with Jeep’s Active Drive low-range 4WD and a new 'Rock Mode' for its Selec-Terrain 4WD system. It also sits 20mm higher than the standard variant and gets unique front and rear bumpers that facilitate better approach and departure angles that stand at 30 degrees (approach), 24.4 degrees (breakover) and 33.6 degrees (departure), respectively. The Jeep Compass Trailhawk also gets hill descent control, as standard.

Compared to the standard variant, the Compass Trailhawk gets unique alloy wheels, signature red recovery hooks, a black painted anti-glare bonnet decal, underbody skid plates, all-weather floor mats and, of course, the Trailhawk and Trail Rated badging.
