Hyundai has achieved another sales milestone in India by rolling out eight million models in the country within a span of 19 years and six months, with its eight-millionth model being a Creta facelift. The record time taken to achieve this milestone makes Hyundai the fastest four-wheeler brand in India.

Since the beginning of its operations in India in 1998, Hyundai has sold more than 53 lakh cars in the country and exported over 27 lakh units. In fact, the carmaker claims to be the largest passenger car exporter in India and exports to over 88 countries across Africa, Middle East, Latin America and the Asia Pacific. The brand has reported its highest ever domestic sales of 5,36,241 units during FY17-18, recording a growth of 5.2 percent.

Although it introduced the Santro back in 1998, Hyundai took seven years and six months to breach past the one-million unit sales mark. And, after that, the two-million unit sales milestone was achieved in just two years and seven months. Since then, Hyundai has crossed subsequent one-million sales milestones in an average time of 18 months.

Recently, Hyundai had announced that bookings for the 2018 Creta crossed the 14,000 mark within 10 days of the facelift going on sale. The brand has also recently introduced a CVT automatic version of the petrol-powered i20 facelift, the refreshed i20 Active, and is currently gearing up to bring out an all-new tall-boy hatchback, which could see the comeback of the Santro nameplate.
