Ford Aspire Blu launched in India, priced at Rs 7.51 lakh

Ford has launched a new special edition for the Aspire compact sedan, badged the Aspire Blu. The new variant, priced at Rs 7.51 lakh for the petrol and Rs 8.31 lakh for the diesel, costs about Rs 25,000 more than the respective Aspire Titanium variant, on which the Aspire Blu is based.

We had previously reported that Ford was preparing to launch a Blu variant for the Aspire with the models having reached dealerships. Interestingly, unlike with the Figo facelift, the Aspire Blu is a special edition and not a new range-topping trim as on the hatchback.

In terms of styling, the Aspire Blu borrows the sporty design cues from the Figo Titanium Blu with black-finished elements such as the mesh grille, alloy wheels, roof and wing mirrors. Other borrowed design bits include blue highlights on the front bumper, along with black and blue graphics that run along the bottom of the doors and the boot.

The cabin maintains the same theme: an all-black interior with blue accents replaces the standard car’s dual-tone interior theme.

Talking about the Aspire Blu’s equipment levels, kit such as a 7.0-inch touchscreen infotainment system with Bluetooth and navigation, auto climate control, reverse camera, key-less entry and go and power adjust and folding wing mirrors are standard. Unlike the 6.5-inch infotainment system that gets Ford’s SYNC 3 exclusive to the top-spec Aspire Titanium+ trim, this 7.0-inch unit misses out on Android Auto and Apple CarPlay compatibility. On the safety front, the Aspire Blu comes with dual front airbags and ABS as standard.

Under the hood, the Aspire Blue can be had with either the 96hp, 1.2-litre petrol or the 100hp, 1.5-litre diesel engine. Both units are offered with a 5-speed manual gearbox.

In the compact sedan segment, the Aspire, and the new special edition Blu variant, rivals the likes of the Maruti Suzuki Dzire, Hyundai Xcent, Volkswagen Ameo and Honda Amaze.
