2025 WWCOTY award finalists

The 15th edition of the Women’s Worldwide Car of the Year (WWCOTY) has announced finalists for the 2025 award. The six models – the Audi A6 e-tron, Hyundai Santa Fe, Kia EV3, Mini Cooper, Porsche Panamera, and Toyota Land Cruiser – have been selected from a total of 81 candidates that met the criteria to participate and represent the best in each category – Large Car, Large SUV, Compact SUV, Urban Model, Performance and Luxury car, 4x4, and Pick-up – respectively.

The initial 81 candidates met the requirement of having been launched on at least two continents or in 40 countries between January and December 2024. They were evaluated by an all-female jury comprised of 82 motoring journalists from 55 countries, including Autocar India’s Renuka Kirpalani.

This year saw two additional award categories: the Best Tech and the Sandy Myhre Award for the most pro-woman brand. BYD took the Best Tech award for its Blade battery technology and breakthroughs in plug-in hybrid technology. Volvo won the Sandy Myhre Award due to its large representation of women in the workforce, usage of pregnant dummies in crash tests since 1995 and its 2023 partnership with Girls Who Code, an organisation that works to close the gender gap in technology.

On the selection of the finalists, Marta García, president of the Women’s Worldwide Car of the Year, said, “The work of the juries has not been easy because this year there have been more contenders than ever before. There are new brands and models with ever-increasing quality. They have all been subjected to demanding test drives, detailed analysis and demanding competitor studies. That’s why the WWCOTY awards are a benchmark for millions of buyers around the world.”
