Citroen Basalt, Aircross get Dark Edition; prices start at Rs 12.80 lakh

The Citroen Basalt and Aircross SUV models now come with a new Dark Edition, featuring blacked-out exterior and interior parts, with prices starting at Rs 12.80 lakh, ex-showroom. Citroen has exclusively introduced the latest version with the top-spec Max variants of the two SUVs. Mechanically, no changes have been made.

Seatbelt cushions, gear lever finished in gloss black

Most notable changes on the outside include a darkened-out front moustache (in Citroen speak) and the Chevron logo. In addition to a new Perla Nera black exterior paint, ‘DARK’ badges have been placed on front doors and boot to further differentiate it from the standard models. 

Inside, the Citroen SUV models feature a gloss black-finished gear lever, contrast red stitching on the leatherette seats and door armrests, ambient and footwell lighting, brand-badged cushions for seatbelts, and illuminated sill plates. Additionally, the dashboard is now wrapped in leatherette, marking a notable upgrade.

Common 110hp, 1.2-litre turbo petrol engine

In the Max variant, both Citroen SUV models share a 1.2-litre, three-cylinder turbo petrol engine producing 110hp and 190Nm with 6MT and 205Nm with 6AT. The same turbocharged mill offers a maximum mileage of 19.5kpl and 18.5kpl in the Basalt and Aircross, respectively.

The French carmaker has also launched a Dark Edition for its entry-level C3, and the price starts at Rs 8.38 lakh. However, in addition to a black theme for the exterior and interior, it has been updated with E20 fuel compliance and a larger 45-litre petrol tank (previously 30 litres). The mid-spec Feel (O) trim now gets turn indicators on ORVMs and adjustable front seat headrests.
