Bentley will add a fifth model to its global line-up on May 10, and cryptic teasers suggest it will be a new long-wheelbase version of its Bentayga SUV.

An extended version of the Bentley Bentayga has been on the cards since 2016, when company bosses told our sister publication Autocar UK that the model’s sales success had prompted internal discussion about various new derivatives.

A coupe version, a limited-edition high-performance model (which we now know as the W12-engined Bentayga Speed) and a long-wheelbase variant were all planned.

Bentley has not confirmed whether the new model arriving next month is the extended-wheelbase Bentayga, but references to a “long-awaited” new model and its engineers and craftspeople going to "new lengths" certainly suggest that’s the case.

Adding “an extra dimension of on-board wellness”, this will be the fifth model in the Bentayga line-up, and will join the standard V8 car, the V6 plug-in hybrid, the firmed-up Bentayga S and the range-topping Speed.

A short preview video released by the Crewe firm shows the insides of a rear door, seemingly longer than that fitted to the current Bentayga, illuminated in a dramatic shade of purple.

No additional details have been released on pricing or specifications, but these are expected to be announced during the full reveal. The new model is also expected to command a healthy premium over the standard Bentayga, although it remains to be seen whether it will be offered with the same array of engines.

This follows on from the news that Bentley will be releasing five electric cars from 2025 as part of its Beyond100 plan to become an electric-only carbon-neutral brand by 2030.

    Bentley in India

Bentley launched the facelifted Bentayga in India in 2021, and also sells the Flying Spur and the Continental GT.

Do you think the long wheelbase Bentayga will be able to attract buyers in India as well? Let us know in the comments.
