Aston Martin has taken the wraps off the Vantage Roadster facelift less than a year since the British brand brought out the Vantage Coupe. Expected to launch in India this year, the updated convertible shares much with the coupe, from its styling and cabin to its features list and Mercedes-AMG-sourced V8 engine.

  1. The Vantage Roadster facelift is the most powerful drop-top Aston Martin
  2. Its 0-96kph time is slightly slower than the Coupe's, at 3.5 seconds
  3. Claimed to have the fastest electric folding convertible roof: 6.8s to open/close

With 665hp and 800Nm from a reworked version of the existing twin-turbocharged 4.0-litre V8, the new Roadster packs substantially more power than its 512hp predecessor and has been set up to be a more dynamic, driver-focussed proposition. The updated Vantage Roadster’s output figures make it more powerful than rivals such as the Porsche 911 Carrera 4 GTS Cabriolet and Ferrari Roma Spider, bringing it closer to the likes of the Maserati MC20 Cielo and McLaren Artura Spider.

Compared to the Vantage Coupe, the Roadster weighs about 60kg more – due to rigidity bolstering tweaks and the assembly that runs the convertible roof – making it marginally slower in terms of acceleration. Aston Martin claims a 0-96kph time of 3.5 seconds for the Roadster, which is 0.1 seconds slower than the Coupe. However, the brand claims the same top speed of 325kph for both.

Power is sent to the rear wheels via an 8-speed automatic, which is said to have adjusted ratios and calibration to provide “punchier” in-gear acceleration and quicker gear changes.

Aston Martin says the aluminium chassis has been stiffened to improve driving dynamics, and work has been done to maintain a 49:51 (front to rear) weight distribution; the Coupe has a 50:50 weight distribution. As before, double wishbones carry out suspension duties at the front and multi-link at the rear.

The company claims the facelift’s rear end is up to 29 percent stiffer under load, benefiting handling and driver feedback. New bespoke-tuned Bilstein DRX adaptive dampers are also said to increase responsiveness. There is a choice of steel or carbon-ceramic brakes, and the standard 21-inch alloy wheels are shod with bespoke Michelin Pilot Sport S 5 tyres.

Aston Martin claims the new convertible has the fastest-folding roof on sale today. The cloth top opens or closes in just 6.8 seconds and can be operated at road speeds of up to 50kph. For comparison, the Ferrari Roma Spider’s roof takes 13.5 seconds to open or close.

The new car is visually marked out from its predecessor by a revised front end – notably with a larger grille – and a 30mm increase in width. Other than the convertible body style, it looks near-identical to the Coupe.

Inside, it mirrors the Vantage Coupe, which has an all-new and thoroughly modern interior. The cabin gets a new 10.25-inch touchscreen, a 10.25-inch digital driver’s display, wireless smartphone mirroring, and an array of buttons, switches and dials for the most-used functions. The features list, from the suite of ADAS features to the optional Bowers & Wilkins surround audio system, is shared between the Coupe and the Roadster.

2025 Aston Martin Vantage Roadster price and India launch

While Aston Martin has said that deliveries will commence from April onwards in international markets, an India launch is expected in the second half of 2025. The Vantage Roadster facelift prices are expected to be in the Rs 5 crore (ex-showroom, before options) region. The Vantage Coupe is priced at Rs 3.99 crore (ex-showroom, India).
