2023 World Car of the Year top three finalists announced

    The World Car Awards has released the top three finalists for the World Car of the Year award and top three in each category. The winner will be announced on April 5 at the New York Motor show. 

    The World Car Awards jury consists of 100 distinguished automotive journalists from over 30 countries including Hormazd Sorabjee, editor of Autocar India, and Renuka Kiripalani, Executive Editor, Video, Autocar India and editor of the Autocar India show. 

    World Car of the Year 2023: top three finalists

    Last month, World Car Awards released the list of ten finalists for the top honour. Out of these, the new BMW X1 and its EV counterpart iX1 (considered one contestant), Hyundai Ioniq 6 and the Kia Niro made the cut into the top three. It must be noted that the Kia Niro also recently won the Women’s World Car of the Year 2023. 

    Along with selecting the top three for the highest award, three cars were also selected under each category. Here’s a look at the three finalists in their respective categories. 

    2023 World Urban Car of the Year 

    1. Citroen C3
    2. Volkswagen Taigo/Nivus
    3. ORA Funky Cat/Haomao

    2023 World Luxury Car of the Year 

    1. BMW 7 Series/i7
    2. Lucid Air
    3. Genesis G90

    2023 World Performance Car of the Year

    1. Kia EV6 GT 
    2. Nissan Z
    3. Toyota GR Corolla 

    2023 World Electric Vehicle of the Year 

    1. BMW i7
    2. Hyundai Ioniq 6
    3. Lucid Air

    2023 World Car Design of the Year 

    1. Hyundai Ioniq 6 
    2. Range Rover 
    3. Lucid Air 

    2023 World Car Award: winner announcement

    After announcing the top three finalists, the next step is to declare the winner. The 2023 World Car of the Year will be announced on April 5 at the New York Auto show.
