Tata recently held a large event where it launched the new Altroz premium hatchback, along with the facelifted Nexon, Tiago and Tigor. The carmaker also teased the BS6-compliant version of the Harrier SUV, via a marketing video it showed at the same event.

There are a number of changes that will come with the updated Harrier, besides the updated BS6-compliant engine. The most prominent changes, however, will be the new factory-fit panoramic sunroof and 18-inch dual-tone alloy wheels – we’ve seen these units used on the Buzzard Sport that was showcased at the 2019 Geneva motor show. These changes will be available on a new top-spec variant of the SUV. The video also teased a new red colour option for the Harrier, which is also likely to be offered on the updated SUV. The new Harrier is also expected to get mildly spruced-up interiors, according to our sources.

Coming to the engine itself, the current model’s 2.0-litre Kryotec diesel engine will be upgraded to meet BS6 emission norms, and it will also be more powerful, producing around 170hp. In addition to the already available 6-speed manual gearbox, the Harrier will also get a Hyundai-sourced 6-speed torque converter automatic gearbox.

The carmaker is expected to launch the BS6-compliant Harrier next month. The BS6 Harrier will continue to rival the likes of the MG HectorKia Seltos and the next-gen Hyundai Creta, which will be launched in mid-March.

Tata will also be making its presence felt at the upcoming Auto Expo 2020, as it will debut four new models which include the aforementioned BS6 Harrier automatic, the Gravitas seven-seat SUV, the production-spec version of the H2X micro-SUV (positioned below the Nexon) and the Altroz EV.
