Hyundai Creta: Knight Edition introduced

Cashing in on the trend of Dark Editions from other brands, the updates on the Creta Knight Edition include a new gloss black finish for the grille with red inserts, blacked-out front and rear skid plates and red front brake calipers.

The wing mirrors, roof rails, side sills and C pillar garnish also get a blacked-out treatment, while the Hyundai logo on the front and rear get a dark chrome finish. The wheels, meanwhile, have been finished in a new gun metal shade, with a Knight Edition emblem on the tail gate.

On the inside, the all-black theme continues for the seat upholstery and the dashboard, and for some contrast, the AC vents are finished in red. There’s red contrast stitching for the seats and steering wheel as well.

The Creta Knight Edition is available on the newly introduced S+ and the top-spec SX(O) automatic variants. It can be had with either the 1.5-litre petrol or diesel engines, but not with the 1.4-litre turbo-petrol engine.

Hyundai Creta: new variants, gearbox, colours and more features

Along with the Knight Edition variant, Hyundai has also introduced several updates to the Creta for the 2022 model year.

Hyundai is offering a new 6-speed iMT gearbox with the 115hp, 1.5-litre naturally aspirated petrol engine on the mid-spec S trim of the Creta. This is the third model in Hyundai’s line-up to be offered with an iMT gearbox after the Venue and the i20. With this new addition, the Creta 1.5 petrol is now available with three gearbox options – 6-speed MT, 6-speed iMT and a CVT automatic.

Kia also recently introduced the iMT gearbox on the Seltos diesel. Read more on that here.

Hyundai is also offering the 140hp, 1.4-litre turbo-petrol engine on a newly introduced S+ trim. This brings down the entry price of the 1.4-litre turbo-petrol engine by quite some margin, which was previously only available on top-spec SX and SX(O) trim. The new S+ trim sits above the S trim and gets additional features such as a panoramic sunroof, 16-inch alloys, wireless charger, rear disc brakes, ESC, hill start assist and electrically folding wing mirrors among others.

As mentioned above, the new S+ trim is also available in the Knight Edition guise, with the 1.5-litre petrol and diesel engines. Meanwhile, the previous second-from-top SX trim has been discontinued which was available with the 1.4 turbo-DCT and 1.5 diesel-AT powertrains.

Additionally, Hyundai has also made the tyre pressure monitoring system a standard feature across the entire range. There's also a new gloss black center console insert on the top-spec SX(O) trim. Lastly, the Creta will also be available in a new Denim Blue colour option.

Hyundai Creta: rivals in India

The popular Creta sees competition from the Kia Seltos, Skoda Kushaq, Volkswagen Taigun, MG Astor and the Nissan Kicks, currently. In a few months, two new SUVs will join the segment, which are being jointly built by Maruti Suzuki and Toyota. Read more on that here.
