Renault has finally introduced a much-needed turbo-petrol engine for the Triber MPV. Its price ranges between Rs 7.84 lakh and Rs 8.99 lakh. Compared to the naturally aspirated petrol engine, it demands a premium of Rs 94,000 to Rs 1.11 lakh, depending on the variant chosen. Additionally, it sits on the heavily reengineered CMF-A platform, which is rechristened to the Renault Group Entry Platform (RGEP). The engine is the same 100hp, 1.0-litre three-cylinder ‘HR10’ mill that also does duty in the Kiger and the Duster. But the Triber develops more torque than both those SUVs through a new engine management system. Transmission duties are handled by a 5-speed manual gearbox, while a CVT option is slated to arrive later. Renault claims a 0-100kph time of 10.8 seconds.
