Yamaha FZ X Hybrid vs FZ X differences explained

Yamaha India recently expanded its hybrid motorcycle portfolio with the new FZ-X Hybrid that features some key changes over its regular counterpart. Here, we’ll list out all the differences between the FZ-X and the FZ-X Hybrid.

Yamaha FZ X Hybrid vs FZ X: engine and performance

Both bikes share the same 149cc engine with no difference in output.

Both the FZ-X models share the 149cc, single-cylinder, air-cooled mill making 12.4hp and 13.3Nm, with no changes to the mapping or gearing. This motor does duty in the rest of the FZ line-up as well, where it makes the same peak output figures.

The difference boils down to the Integrated Starter Generator (ISG) on the FZ-X Hybrid, which brings in silent start as well as a start/stop system. The latter should help the FZ-X Hybrid eke out better fuel efficiency figures in the city than its regular counterpart.

Yamaha FZ X Hybrid vs FZ X: features and weight

FZ X weighs a little more due to added tech.

The FZ-X Hybrid and FZ-X share nearly every key technical specification except their kerb weights. Weighing 141kg, the FZ-X Hybrid is 2kg heavier than the standard bike, most likely due to the added weight of the hybrid system.

Another area of difference is that the FZ-X Hybrid comes with a colour TFT display – just like the FZ-S Hybrid – instead of the negative LCD display on the standard FZ-X.

Yamaha FZ X Hybrid vs FZ X: price and colours

FZ X hybrid costs significantly more than standard bike.

At Rs 1.50 lakh for the FZ-X Hybrid, there’s a big Rs 20,000 delta between it and the standard bike. The hybrid can be had in a single shade of matte green with golden wheels whereas the standard FZ-X can be had in two matte colours – blue and black.
