Maruti has launched the fourth-gen Swift at Rs 6.49 lakh, and it is available in five variants – LXi, VXi, VXi (O) ZXi and ZXi+. The mid-spec VX (O) trim was not offered with the outgoing model. Besides the updated design and the new, frugal engine, the all-new Swift also gets far more features, with even entry-level variants getting six airbags and halogen projector headlights. New Maruti Suzuki Swift variants explained
One of the biggest changes is the new Z12E 1.2-litre three-cylinder engine that replaces the older K-Series unit. It produces 82hp and 112Nm of peak torque, which is 8hp and 1Nm down compared to the outgoing motor. However, the three-pot is over 3kpl more efficient delivering an ARAI-rated 24.8kpl when paired to the 5-speed manual. The new Swift also gets a 5-speed AMT option, which is rated at 25.75kpl. Apart from the entry-level Swift LXi, all variants get both gearbox options.
