Here, we list every CNG car currently in production that has been through Autocar India’s exhaustive and accurate fuel-efficiency tests.
Tata Nexon CNG
Real-world mileage: 18.55km/kg
As the only model on this list to pack a turbocharged engine, the Tata Nexon CNG develops 100hp and 170Nm of peak torque and comes with a 6-speed manual transmission. While Tata Motors claims an efficiency of 24km/kg for the Nexon CNG, our tests showed that the compact SUV returns 18.55km/kg. Nexon CNG prices start at Rs 8.3 lakh and go up to Rs 13.52 lakh.

Real-world mileage: 22km/kg
The Maruti Victoris CNG, which has an ARAI-rated mileage of 27.02km/kg, comes with the brand’s 1.5-litre naturally aspirated engine, generating 88hp and 122Nm. Transmission duties are handled by a 5-speed manual gearbox. In our real-world efficiency test, the midsize SUV delivered an average mileage of 22km/kg. The Victoris CNG is priced from Rs 11.5 lakh to Rs 14.72 lakh.

Our Brezza CNG real-world mileage test shows that the compact SUV is more fuel-efficient than the Nexon CNG, recording an average of 22.95km/kg. Compared to Maruti’s claimed ARAI figure, that is 2.55km/kg less. The Maruti Brezza CNG is currently priced between Rs 9.17 lakh and Rs 11.46 lakh.
