Why Prices Change From The Base Model To The Top Model?
The Volkswagen Taigun is offered in seven variants: Comfortline, Highline, Highline Plus, Topline, GT Line, GT Plus Chrome and GT Plus Sport. The price gap is down to the equipment each variant adds, the choice of engine and the choice of gearbox.
- Comfortline: The entry-level trim is offered with the 1.0-litre TSI and six-speed manual. Six airbags and ESC are standard. Check the current variant specification for the touchscreen, wheel type and parking-assistance equipment.
- Highline: Adds equipment over the entry-level trim, with features and transmission availability depending on the specific variant. Refer to the current variant comparison for the touchscreen, smartphone connectivity, charging, parking sensors and wheel specifications.
- Highline Plus: Adds further convenience and cabin features over Highline. Check the current equipment list for the sunroof, digital instrument cluster, keyless entry and other additions.
- Topline: Offers higher-specification comfort and technology features. The facelift range includes a panoramic sunroof, ventilated and electrically adjustable front seats, a 10.25-inch digital instrument cluster and illuminated VW logos, subject to variant-specific fitment.
- GT Line: Adds sportier styling, including black exterior details on the GT-themed variants. Check the current equipment list for the precise wheel design, cabin finish and ambient-lighting specification.
- GT Plus Chrome and GT Plus Sport: Both are offered with the 1.5-litre TSI and seven-speed DSG. The GT Plus Sport adds blacked-out exterior detailing and red accents. Check the variant comparison for differences in equipment, audio system and braking hardware.
- The price also varies with the gearbox. The 1.0-litre TSI automatic costs more than the corresponding manual variant where both are offered, while the 1.5-litre TSI is available only with the seven-speed DSG.

Volkswagen Taigun FAQs
The Taigun offers features such as a panoramic sunroof, ventilated front seats, digital instrument cluster, connected infotainment, wireless smartphone connectivity and wireless charging.
However, compared with newer rivals, it misses features such as ADAS, a 360-degree camera and rear sunblinds, which impacts its overall value proposition.
The Volkswagen Taigun sits at the pricier end of the midsize SUV space. While it may not be the most spacious and feature-rich offering, it offers good handling and performance, especially with the 1.5 TSI unit. If performance and handling are your top priorities, you may consider opting for the VW Taigun.
Considering the MG Windsor EV's long list of features, spacious cabin practical real-world range and the battery rental option, it does come across as an overall value-for-money EV.
Questions you may find useful
Hello Team, I am getting the Volkswagen Taigun Highline Plus AT and Skoda Kushaq Signature AT at almost the same price. I would appreciate your suggestions on which one would be the better choice based on driving quality, AC performance, ride comfort, reliability and maintenance costs, and overall city-driving experience. Around 90% of my usage will be in city traffic, so city drivability, comfort and ease of driving are particularly important to me. I would also appreciate any suggestions based on real-world ownership experiences with either of these cars. Thank you!
Go for the Skoda Kushaq Signature AT. Both the Volkswagen Taigun and Kushaq are mechanically identical, so driving quality, AC performance, and overall city drivability are essentially the same. The 1.0 TSI paired with the 6-speed torque converter automatic is a proven combination that works very well in city traffic, with smooth shifts and good low-end response. The Kushaq Signature stands out for its value for money: it is a higher variant with more features at the same price, making it the smarter buy. In terms of reliability and maintenance, both cars are on par, and ownership costs are broadly similar. The only real difference is the interior design and brand preference. The Taigun has a slightly more premium-looking cabin, but the Kushaq Signature offers more equipment for the money. For a buyer with 90% city usage, the Kushaq Signature AT is the better overall package.
Which of the three would be most suitable for cross-country trips involving a mix of smooth, average and bad roads: the Honda Elevate CVT, Maruti Grand Vitara Smart Hybrid AT, or Volkswagen Taigun 1.0 AT? My key criteria are reliability and safety, ride quality, and fatigue-free driving. I am also considering a few potential downsides: the NVH levels of the Elevate, the long-term reliability of the Smart Hybrid battery in the Grand Vitara, although this is not a deal-breaker, and the possibility of EPC-related faults in the Taigun. I would appreciate some expert advice on which of these three would be the best overall choice for my requirements.
For your requirements, the Honda Elevate CVT is the most balanced choice. It is a simple, robust and reliable package with a proven naturally aspirated petrol engine and a smooth CVT gearbox, which makes it well suited for long-distance touring. The Elevate also offers a comfortable ride, good ground clearance and a suspension setup that can handle a mix of road conditions, including bad patches, without feeling fragile. Honda’s long-term reliability track record is strong, and the car’s simplicity is actually an advantage for ownership over 5-10 years. The Maruti Suzuki Grand Vitara Smart Hybrid AT is also a good option, but the hybrid system adds complexity without a significant advantage on long highway runs, where the fuel savings are less pronounced. The battery is not a major reliability concern, but it is still an additional component to consider over long-term ownership. The Volkswagen Taigun 1.0 TSI AT is the enthusiast’s choice with a more engaging driving experience and strong performance, but your concerns about EPC-related faults are not unfounded. While Volkswagen has improved reliability, the ownership experience is still not as hassle-free as Honda or Maruti.
I am looking for a sub-4-metre SUV for long-term ownership that is also fun to drive. My daily office commute is around 60km, with occasional highway trips, and good mileage is important. I have shortlisted the Volkswagen Taigun 1.5, Honda Elevate and Nissan Tekton. Which would be the ideal fit?
Go for the Volkswagen Taigun 1.5 TSI. It is the most fun-to-drive car on this shortlist, with strong performance, a responsive turbo petrol engine and a genuinely engaging driving experience. For a 60km daily commute and occasional highway trips, it strikes a good balance between driving enjoyment and efficiency, especially if you drive it sensibly. The Honda Elevate is the more sensible long-term ownership choice, with Honda’s reputation for reliability and low maintenance, but it is not as engaging to drive, and the naturally aspirated petrol engine lacks the punch of the Taigun’s turbo petrol. The Nissan Tekton is a solid all-rounder, but its 1.3 turbo petrol won't be as fuel efficient as the Taigun. If you want a car that will keep you engaged on your daily commute and still be reliable over the long term, the Taigun 1.5 TSI is the best fit.If you want maximum peace of mind and are willing to compromise on driving excitement, the Honda car mentioned above is the safer choice.
I have owned my Skoda Rapid 1.5 TDI DSG for 6.5 years, and it has crossed 1 lakh km. It still runs like a dream and has been extremely reliable, with no major mechanical issues apart from regular servicing. My only concern now is the possibility of expensive repairs as the mileage increases, especially related to the DSG or injectors. Another issue is that the Rapid feels quite bare-bones compared to newer cars. I am considering upgrading to something under Rs. 25 lakh, mainly looking at the Duster 1.3 DCT and Taigun 1.5 TSI. My question is: should I keep the Rapid for a couple more years, or would the Duster/Taigun be a worthwhile upgrade? Or is there anything else under Rs. 25 lakh that would make a good replacement? Please suggest.
Given your ownership experience with the Rapid 1.5 TDI DSG, it is understandable that you are weighing the decision carefully. The car has served you well, and the 1.5 TDI is a robust engine, but at over 1 lakh km, the potential for expensive repairs - particularly with the DSG and injectors - becomes a valid concern. The Rapid also feels dated compared to newer cars in terms of features and overall cabin experience, so all things considered, this is where we would recommend parting ways with it.Between your shortlisted options, the Renault Duster 1.3 DCT will feel like the more meaningful upgrade. The 1.3 turbo petrol is a strong, characterful engine, and the DCT gearbox is quick and engaging. The Duster also offers a more rugged, SUV-like feel and a better ride over rough roads, which makes it a genuinely different ownership experience from the Rapid. The Volkswagen Taigun 1.5 TSI is a very good car, but it is mechanically similar to what you already have, and the upgrade will not feel as substantial. That said, the Taigun is a proven product that's been around for a few years, whereas the Duster is brand new and yet to prove its mettle over the long term. If you've been happy with Skoda's aftersales performance, Volkswagen is quite similar in that regard. If you want a good but familiar experience, go with the Taigun, but otherwise, it's the Duster we'd recommend.
