•2wI live in New Delhi and currently own a Honda Elevate (2023). My daily city commute is around 100 km. I want to buy an EV and have shortlisted the Toyota Urban Cruiser Ebella and the Hyundai Creta Electric. Please suggest which one would be better, especially in terms of air conditioning, as Delhi gets extremely hot in the summer. Most of my driving is in bumper-to-bumper traffic.

Autocar India
Both the Toyota Urban Cruiser Ebella and the Hyundai Creta Electric should cope well with brutal Delhi summers. Both cars are equipped with automatic climate control and rear AC vents, so basic cooling performance will not be a deal-breaker in either. However, the Ebella story in India is still evolving. Toyota has unveiled the car and opened bookings, but prices and full variant details are only being drip-fed and final ex‑showroom pricing has still not been announced, which is unusual this long after a reveal and suggests Toyota is still not clear on its India EV strategy. That uncertainty could affect delivery timelines. The Hyundai Creta EV, on the other hand, is based on a well‑proven package with a clear India focus. It offers a roomy, practical cabin, a larger and more usable boot, and plenty of comfort features, including dual‑zone automatic climate control and rear vents that will help keep occupants cool in slow, bumper‑to‑bumper traffic. For a 100 km daily Delhi commute, its balance of efficiency, space and everyday usability makes it the more sorted and predictable choice today.

•7wConfused between hyryder G CNG or Ebella. Have daily commute of 90 km. Monthly once will make a 700 km travel to home town.

Autocar India
The Ebella's prices haven't been announced yet, but going by its badge engineered version - Suzuki e Vitara's pricing, it is likely to be in the same ballpark, i.e. between Rs 16-20 lakh (ex-showroom). The Hyryder G CNG on the other hand tops out below Rs 18 lakh on-road. And while the Hyryder CNG is a manual, the good news is that its clutch and gearbox are light, so even though it isn't nearly as convenient as the EV, it doesn't feel cumbersome to drive. What you need to keep in mind however is that boot space is compromised due to the CNG tank, hence during your 700km drives, it could be inadequate. Even the Ebella's boot is small, cabin floor is high (so the seating position is knees-up) and the infotainment's user-interface/user-experience is far from perfect. Also, while we haven't tested the Ebella's range, our preliminary tests indicate a highway range of about 370km, which means you will need to charge a few times on the way to your hometown, so you need to factor that in as well.Between the two cars you've shortlisted, we'd recommend the Hyryder CNG, which is a tried and tested car. However, if you're open to options, the Maruti Victoris CNG will be ideal for you as it shares its platform, equipment and powertrain with the Hyryder, and thanks to its repositioned CNG tank (beneath the boot), luggage space doesn't feel as compromised as in the Toyota.

•13wI am confused between the Toyota Urban Cruiser Ebella and the Skoda Kushaq (new facelift). Which one should I buy for better comfort? Price is not a constraint. Which is more value for money? My driving split is 50:50 city and highway.

Autocar India
We are yet to drive either of the cars you have mentioned, as they were unveiled yesterday. However, based on our experience with the Maruti Suzuki E Vitara, which the Toyota Urban Cruiser Ebella is based on, the Skoda Kushaq should be the better option purely in terms of comfort and space.Like the eVitara, the Ebella is unlikely to impress with rear seat comfort, and its boot is quite small. The Kushaq, on the other hand, has always been a spacious car, and it is safe to expect the new version to continue that trend. Added features such as rear massage seats, a panoramic sunroof, and the new 10.25-inch digital instrument cluster will further enhance the overall sense of premiumness.
