Hi, I booked the 2026 Tata Punch Pure Plus manual on 11th February, and the dealer committed to deliver it on 27th February, but now they are denying delivery. I want to cancel the booking and am planning to buy the Maruti Ignis Zeta AGS. My driving will mostly be in the city, with highway running of about 1,000 km once every three months. Will it be a good decision to buy the Ignis Zeta AGS, or should I wait for the Tata Punch Pure Plus manual? Or is there any other AMT/AGS car that I can consider within a ₹7-8 lakh budget? Kindly suggest.
If you do not want to wait any longer, going ahead with the Maruti Suzuki Ignis Zeta AGS is a perfectly sensible decision for your usage. For mostly city driving with an occasional highway run once every few months, the Ignis fits the bill well. Its 1.2 litre four cylinder petrol engine is smoother and more responsive than the Punch’s motor, and the AMT calibration feels easy to live with in traffic.
It has good space on the inside, has a comfortable ride quality and, being a Maruti Suzuki, offers a hassle-free ownership experience with low maintenance costs and wide service support.
One important point to keep in mind with the Ignis is safety. When tested by Global NCAP in 2022, it scored a one-star rating, so this is something you should be fully aware of before making a final decision.
If timely delivery, the Ignis Zeta AGS is a good buy. If safety rating and a more rugged feel are higher priorities and you are willing to wait, then sticking with the Tata Punch makes sense.

Being a first-time buyer, I have a budget of around 10 lakh and am confused between the Hyundai Exter and the new Tata Punch. Can you recommend a good buy for mostly city rides with occasional (2-3 times a month) highway cruises? I am a new driver.
The Hyundai Exter's 1.2-litre four-cylinder engine feels far smoother, more powerful and more refined than the Tata's three-cylinder unit. Moreover, the Exter's controls are lighter, and overall it feels like the more user-friendly car of the two, which, as a new driver, you are likely to appreciate.
The Tata Punch, on the other hand, has a more 'SUV-like' raised seating position, is easier to get in and out of, and its seats are broader too. Additionally, the Punch's audio system is far superior to the Exter's. Since your usage involves two-three long drives every month, we'd recommend the Punch for its excellent composure on the highway.

You can consider the Tata Punch. It is a compact SUV that offers a spacious cabin, a comfortable ride, great handling and a lengthy features list. Confused between Punch AMT and Fronx AMT. First-time buyer, need an automatic car only. City vs highway usage is 60:40. Kindly suggest in terms of reliability, as I plan to keep this car for at least 10 years.
The Tata Punch has just got a facelift and is pretty up to date in terms of features and tech for its class. It has a larger boot than the Maruti Suzuki Fronx, but its cabin is smaller, and rear seat space is cramped in comparison.
The Fronx's 1.2-litre naturally aspirated, 4-cylinder is smoother and nicer to drive than the Punch's 1.2 three-cylinder motor. Also, from a long-term reliability standpoint, the Fronx, backed by Maruti-Suzuki's reputation for reliability and good service, is a better choice.

The Tata Punch CNG automatic is a good choice for your needs. Since your running is high, the CNG option will help you save on fuel costs, and the automatic gearbox will be convenient while driving in traffic.

I would like to purchase a new car, the Tata Punch. I will use it for family trips of about 300 km per month. Punch or Dzire, please suggest.
The choice really comes down to your requirements. The Tata Punch is a good option for a family of four. It has a reasonably spacious cabin and a decent boot, and the ride quality is good, too. Its compact dimensions also make it easy to manage in crowded cities.
If, however, you have a larger family with grown-ups, you would be better off with the Maruti Suzuki Dzire. The cabin has more space, and for your highway drives, the larger boot could also come in handy.

Yes, the Tata Punch turbo is a good choice for you, given the nature of your usage. The advantage is that it can still be easy, and even quite fuel efficient if driven carefully, when driving around town, while also being strong enough for your occasional highway drives or hilly regions. This can not be said of the naturally aspirated engine.
Perhaps the only downsides are that the 6-speed manual gearbox can feel notchy, clutch modulation is not easy to do smoothly, and it is not very refined. Also, you will not get the top-spec variant within your Rs 10 lakh budget.
Keeping that in mind, you should also consider the Citroen C3 1.2 Turbo. It has a much smoother and punchier engine, and the gearbox is slicker too. It may miss out on some features that the Punch gets, but it is also more affordable overall. Its biggest advantage is that, if you are willing to spend a little more, you can get this engine with a smooth 6-speed automatic gearbox, which will be a huge boon around town.

I own two cars: a Brezza petrol TC and a Baleno Zeta CNG. My daily run is 60-70 km in the city, mostly on good roads. I am thinking of replacing the Baleno with another CNG car that has a better driving stance and higher ground clearance, as I sometimes get tired driving the Baleno for long hours. The Brezza is mostly used for outstation family vacations. Please recommend a good CNG car under ₹13 lakhs that is feature-rich and reliable. Some must-have features for me are white LED projector headlamps, alloy wheels, and a good stock speaker system.

I am going to buy my first car. My usage will be around 50-80 km during peak summers and peak winters, mostly for about 8 months. For the rest of the year, the car will almost remain parked at home. The only car that comes to mind is the Tata Punch because of family safety. However, I feel I might be ignoring other factors like mileage and after-sales service costs. Please guide me on various options, keeping safety and a budget of not more than ₹9 lakh in mind. I would prefer a four-cylinder engine if possible, although the Punch has a three-cylinder engine. Can the Altroz diesel be a good alternative? My preference is a manual transmission.
The Tata Punch is a good, practical car that's proven its mettle for its safety. As you've mentioned, its three-cylinder petrol engine feels inadequate, and Tata doesn't have a solid reputation for after-sales support either.
Since you're looking for a four-cylinder option with mileage, service costs, as well as safety, we'd recommend you consider the Hyundai Venue, the 1.2 Petrol MT HX2 variant, which is the entry-level variant. As far as smoothness, refinement, space, and an upmarket interior feel go, the Venue is easily the better car.
