Delhi

Bookings for the Mercedes-Benz GLC Electric are currently underway across India, ahead of its launch on November 4. The Mercedes-Benz GLC Electric is expected to be priced between Rs 80 lakh and Rs 90 lakh, ex-showroom. It will rival the BMW iX3 Long Wheelbase, set to launch here in 2027. It's built on an all-electric platform, and it’s longer, wider and has a slightly larger wheelbase than the combustion-run GLC SUV.

It will be offered in the 400 4Matic variant. In international markets, this variant gets a 94kWh battery and a dual-motor all-wheel-drive (AWD) setup. The dual-motor AWD setup produces 490hp and 800Nm of torque, allowing the SUV to go from 0-100kph in a claimed 4.3 seconds. The claimed WLTP range is 715km.

The GLC Electric supports DC fast charging at up to 330kW, which can add a claimed 300km of range in 10 minutes. The international-spec 400 4Matic also gets rear-wheel steering and air suspension as standard.

The GLC EV gets a large front grille with rounded edges and illuminated elements, along with tri-star-shaped LED daytime running lamps (DRLs) and projector LED headlights. The side profile is relatively simpler, with alloy wheels of up to 21 inches, flush-fitting door handles and slim cladding around the wheel arches. At the rear, it gets star-shaped LED tail-lights with circular outlines. While the front Mercedes logo is illuminated, the rear gets a 3D badge.

Inside, it has a 39.1-inch Hyperscreen setup, which combines the driver’s display, infotainment screen and front passenger display into one unit. The system runs the fourth-generation MBUX interface and has a built-in AI assistant. The SUV has a five-seat layout.

Mercedes-Benz GLC Electric FAQs

The GLC Electric offers the performance, refinement and technology expected of a luxury EV. The BMW iX3 Long Wheelbase and Audi Q6 e-tron are rivals to watch when they arrive in 2027. Until then, the GLC Electric is set for a clean run. Since it will also be locally assembled in India, it remains to be seen how accessible it's pricing is.

The international-spec GLC Electric 400 4Matic comes standard with 4.5-degree rear-axle steering and air suspension, but it remains to be seen if these will be offered on the India-spec GLC Electric.

The GLC Electric will be locally assembled at Mercedes' Chakan plant in Pune.

For real-world Indian conditions, a comfortable range of over 550km is expected. Drive with a bit of care, and you may see that figure go past 600km.

It has a fixed panoramic glass roof. It is made up of nine segments, which can be individually controlled for transparency.

We expect the India-spec GLC Electric to pack in ventilation.
