I currently drive a Hyundai i10 CNG, with daily running of around 6 km in Gurgaon city traffic and a monthly highway drive of around 200 km. I am now planning to upgrade my car, with an on-road budget of Rs. 12 lakh for a petrol sub-4-metre SUV, up to Rs. 14 lakh for a petrol midsize SUV, and Rs. 15 lakh for an EV. I live in a rented apartment on the second floor, so I am apprehensive about getting an EV. I prefer an EV, but installing a charger could be complicated due to the sanctioned load. My running could increase to nearly 800 km per month in the future. My key priorities are: - Good suspension and ride comfort, as I have a back problem - Decent fuel efficiency in heavy city traffic - Low to medium maintenance costs - Auto hold and ventilated seats would be good to have I sometimes consider buying a manual, but I mostly prefer an automatic. I am currently considering the Maruti Brezza, Baleno AMT, Fronx AMT/AT, Sonet iMT, Exter AMT, and even the upcoming Inster, VF3, and Bayon. I am open to other suggestions as well. Note: I had a bad driving experience with the Punch AMT, as it caused back fatigue.

Given your priorities of ride comfort, fuel efficiency and low maintenance, the Maruti Brezza automatic is the most sensible upgrade. It offers a comfortable ride, a proven naturally aspirated petrol engine and Maruti's strong service network, which keeps long-term ownership costs in check. The torque converter automatic is smooth in city traffic, and the Brezza's higher seating position will help with your back issues. The Sonet iMT is not the right choice here. While it is a good car, the iMT is not a true automatic and will not offer the same ease of use in Gurgaon traffic. The Baleno AMT and Exter AMT are also not ideal given your back issues and the fact that AMT gearboxes are not as smooth as torque converter automatics in stop-start conditions.On the EV front, your apprehension about charging is valid. Without a straightforward home charging solution, an EV will add unnecessary complexity to your ownership experience. The upcoming Bayon is interesting and if you can wait a few weeks you would have a better picture before making a decision. For now, the Brezza automatic strikes the best balance between comfort, efficiency and hassle-free ownership.

I have taken a test drive of both Sierra and the 9s. I have a few observations with my perspective. 1. I have been using a Baleno for 10 years and when I sat in the sierra it was a significant upgrade but I felt it a lot cluttered. It dint feel spacious in the front. The rear was good at space and would be comfortable then most of the cars in its segment. 2. The car was good to drive be it the pick up, handling and ride. It was good. 3. When I returned to the show room it was parked next to a harrier ev. If you observe harrier ev is one of the wildest cars with in the 30 lakhs bracket and is even wider than the ICE versions. This made the Sierra look very small and this was a deal breaker for me where I was looking for presence when I spend this budget. I took a test drive of the 9s and it has ticked all the boxes interms of performance, premium appeal, felt spacious both the rows. Has been practical with a spacious frunk and felt I was driving a big car for the money spent. I have finally booked a 9s pack 3. Thank you for the inputs shared and this has been my buying experience.

The Baleno's spacious cabin, smooth petrol engine and light controls make it ideal for city driving, and Maruti's service network ensures a hassle-free ownership experience.If you want to move to an SUV, the Maruti Suzuki Fronx is the better option. It offers a higher seating position, better ground clearance and a more premium feel, while still being compact and easy to drive in the city. The Fronx shares the same reliable petrol engine and benefits from Maruti's strong service network.Between the two, the Baleno is the more practical and value-for-money choice, while the Fronx offers a more SUV-like experience. Both are excellent upgrades from the Wagon R and will serve your father well for years to come.

I recently bought a Maruti Suzuki Brezza VXi Turbo in black and have driven around 200 km in one week. The car's performance seems fine, and the AC doesn't affect its performance. However, I feel the engine requires early gear changes, and the mileage is currently low because I mostly drive in the city. I am disappointed by the mixed reviews on YouTube. Some people praise the car, while others criticize it. I want to know if the Brezza Turbo is reliable enough to last 10-12 years? Is its 3-cylinder turbo engine really bad? Did Maruti Suzuki experiment with customers by launching this turbo engine? Did I make a mistake by choosing the Brezza VXI Turbo over the Hyundai i20 Sportz 2022? What is the expected mileage? Is the 1.5L engine a better choice for long-term ownership? Is Maruti Suzuki treating its customers unfairly by offering this turbo engine? Please give me an honest opinion. I am confused because so many people say that the turbo engine isn't good.

You have not made a mistake. The Brezza Turbo is a perfectly good car, and the mixed reviews are more a reflection of internet noise than of any fundamental problem with the car. The 1.0-litre turbo petrol is not an "experiment" '- it is a well-proven engine that Maruti has been selling for several years in the Fronx and Baleno RS, and it has not shown any widespread reliability issues. The early gear changes you are noticing are simply a characteristic of small turbo petrol engines - they make their power in a narrower band, so you need to shift a little earlier than you would in a larger naturally aspirated engine.As for reliability, there is no reason to believe this engine will not last 10-12 years with proper maintenance. Maruti's service network and parts availability remain among the best in the country, and that is a far bigger factor in long-term ownership than the number of cylinders. The 1.5-litre naturally aspirated engine is the safer, simpler choice if you plan to keep the car for 15 years, but the turbo is not a bad engine – it is just a different one.For mileage, the Taisor/Fronx gives a useful benchmark. The same 1.0-litre three-cylinder turbo engine, albeit in a different state of tune, returned 10.9kpl in the city and 16.7kpl on the highway in our Navi Mumbai real-world test. The Brezza is heavier, so its actual efficiency could be somewhat lower, but this gives you a reasonable indication of what to expect once the engine has run in..The i20 Sportz is a good car, but the Brezza Turbo is the better all-rounder - it is more spacious, more practical and better suited to Indian roads. Maruti is not treating customers unfairly by offering this engine - it is simply offering a different option for buyers who want more performance. Ignore the YouTube noise and enjoy your car. It is a solid, reliable product that will serve you well for years to come.
