Maruti Suzuki Baleno

Maruti Suzuki Baleno price in Gariaband

₹6.62 - ₹10.14 Lakh
On road price in
EMI starting at ₹9,653 /month

On-road in Gariaband, the base model 1.2 Petrol Sigma MT starts at 6.62 lakh and the top model 1.2 Petrol Alpha AMT reaches 10.14 lakh. The 1.2 CNG Delta sits between the two at 8.60 lakh, which is where the useful equipment starts without paying for the whole list.

If you are financing the car, a loan of 6,00,000 on the base model 1.2 Petrol Sigma MT means an EMI of 9,653 a month. Stepping up to the top model 1.2 Petrol Alpha AMT raises that to 14,641 on a loan of 9,10,000.

Why prices change from the base model to the top model:

  • Every variant uses the same 1197cc petrol engine, so you are paying for equipment and gearbox rather than for more power.

  • The automated manual gearbox costs more than the 5-speed manual on the same variant.

  • The CNG version sits alongside the petrol range and is priced differently again.

  • The 9-inch touchscreen, the head-up display and the 360-degree camera are all fitted to the top model 1.2 Petrol Alpha AMT rather than spread through the range.

  • Six airbags come on the higher variants, so the safety count moves with the price on this car.

Registration, road tax and insurance are added to the ex-showroom figure, and how much they add depends on the state you buy in. That is why the same variant costs more in one city than another.

Maruti Suzuki Baleno FAQs

The Zeta variant strikes the best balance between price and equipment. It adds several convenience and safety features over lower trims, while buyers wanting features such as the head-up display and 360-degree camera will need to step up to the Alpha variant.

The Baleno remains one of the strongest all-rounders in the premium hatchback segment. It combines a spacious cabin, comfortable ride, good fuel efficiency, a refined petrol engine and a comprehensive feature list, making it a value-for-money choice for most buyers.

Hi, I own a 9 years old Baleno and am planning to upgrade the car but am really confused which one to choose. I want a 5-seater car for highway and city driving with automatic transmission under 18 lakh. I need a reliable car that I can use for atleast next 7 to 8 years. The car must have Adas level 2 but sunroof is not required.

Based on your requirements, the Mahindra XUV 3XO AX7L automatic is the best fit. It is a genuinely spacious 5 seater with a wide rear bench, a strong turbo petrol engine and a well-tuned automatic gearbox that makes both city and highway driving easy. It also offers Level 2 ADAS, which is a key requirement for you, and the AX7L variant sits comfortably within your Rs. 18 lakh budget. The 3XO is also one of the safest cars in the segment, with a 5-star Bharat NCAP rating, and Mahindra's service network has improved significantly in recent years. The only real drawback is the boot, which is on the smaller side for the segment, but as a 5 seater it is one of the best options available today. If you want a more premium cabin and a larger boot, the Kia Seltos HTX automatic is the alternative to consider, but it will push your budget closer to Rs. 20 lakh and you will have to compromise on ADAS availability at that price point. Overall, the XUV 3XO AX7L is the most balanced and value-for-money choice for your needs.

I want to buy a car for 40% city use and 60% long trips. I own a 2015 model of Celerio AGS. Should I buy Baleno AGS considering E20 fuel in the future.

Given your usage pattern of 40% city and 60% long trips, the Maruti Suzuki Baleno AGS is actually a sensible upgrade from your 2015 Celerio AGS. The Baleno offers a more comfortable cabin, better highway stability and a more refined driving experience, which will make those long trips far more enjoyable. The AGS gearbox is also well suited to your occasional city use, keeping things simple and efficient. On the E20 front, there is no reason to worry. The Baleno is E20 compliant, and modern engines are engineered to handle this blend without any long-term reliability concerns. Maruti has also stated that their E20 engines are built for a material tolerance of slightly more than E20, so on the material front the car should be good for something like E22 for example. The main impact of a higher blend would be a reduction in fuel efficiency. The only thing to consider is whether you want to stick with AGS or move to a more conventional automatic. If you are happy with how AGS behaves, the Baleno is a solid choice. If you want a smoother and more premium automatic experience, you could look at something like the Hyundai i20 IVT or the Honda Amaze CVT instead. Both offer a more refined automatic gearbox, which can make a difference on long highway drives.Overall, the Baleno AGS is a good fit for your usage and there is no E20-related reason to avoid it. The decision really comes down to whether you are happy with AGS or want to move to a more conventional automatic.

I am a first-time car owner, and my budget is around Rs 7 lakh. My monthly running is about 500km, mostly on highways, and I also plan to do a trip of around 1,000km every six months. I am planning to buy the car for family use. Please suggest which is best. I am confused between the Tiago Pure Plus, Dzire LXi, Baleno Sigma, Exter HX3, Swift LXi, and Grand i10 Nios Magna.

Go for the Maruti Suzuki Baleno Sigma. With a budget of around Rs 7 lakh and your usage pattern and family focus, the Baleno strikes the best balance. It is a proven, reliable and efficient hatchback with a comfortable ride and low running costs, making it ideal for your 500km monthly running and occasional 1,000km highway trips. The Baleno is also more spacious than the other cars on your shortlist, has a well-sorted suspension, and Maruti's extensive service network is a big advantage for a first-time owner. The Dzire LXi is a good alternative if you specifically want a sedan car, but the Baleno's passenger compartment is roomier, and it offers better value overall. The Tata Tiago is a solid option too, but the Baleno's stronger ownership experience and wider service reach give it the edge. The Hyundai Exter and Grand i10 Nios are good choices as well, but they are smaller than the Baleno. Overall, the Baleno is the best fit for your needs.
