The BYD Seal U is expected to launch in India by the end of 2026 as the brand's first plug-in hybrid (PHEV) model for the market. Expected to be priced between ₹45 lakh and ₹50 lakh (ex-showroom), the Seal U will be the first BYD hybrid SUV in India and will expand the brand's lineup beyond electric-only models.
The Seal U combines a 1.5-litre turbo-petrol engine with electric motors and a Blade battery pack. BYD claims a combined driving range of over 1,200km.
Measuring 4,775mm in length, the Seal U is a five-seat SUV similar in size to the Mahindra XEV 9e. It shares its overall design language with the Sealion 7 EV, but features a conventional front grille and hybrid-specific packaging.
