Audi Q3
Audi launched the new Q3 in India on October 16, 2026, in two variants: Nova and Zenith. This is the third-generation version of Audi's entry-level SUV and the first of several new models the brand plans to bring to India. The 2026 Q3 gets an all-new design, a redesigned cabin and a turbo-petrol engine, with all-wheel drive as standard on both variants. It rivals the BMW X1 and Mercedes-Benz GLA.

Q3 Road Test Findings
What we liked
- The 2.0-litre turbo-petrol is smooth, strong and refined. It hesitates briefly at low revs but pulls strongly after that. Audi claims a 0-100kph time of 7.1 seconds.
- The ride is firm but never uncomfortable, and it soaks up potholes well. The steering is light when parking and sharp on twisty roads.
- The 7-speed dual-clutch is quick to drop a gear when you need more power.
- The cabin feels solidly built, more so than its German rivals. The front seats are also comfortable on long drives.
What we did not like
- It misses ventilated seats, a 360-degree camera and lane-keep assist. The reversing camera also has poor resolution.
- The rear seat is comfortable for two adults, but a third passenger will feel cramped.
- The lower cabin plastics feel hard, and the instrument cluster has limited customisation.
- Wireless phone mirroring disconnected during our drive, though a software update should fix the issue.
Who Should Buy The Third-generation Q3?
Who it suits | Why? |
Buyers who drive themselves | As per us, the new Q3 is by far the nicest car to drive in its class. Audi says 84% of Q3 owners drive themselves, and the strong engine and sharp handling reward them. |
City drivers | The wheelbase is unchanged at 2,681mm, so it keeps its compact footprint. The steering is light at parking speeds, and the firm but well-judged ride handles broken roads with ease. |
Small families | We feel the Q3 is easy to live with in the city, even for families with parents on board. The front seats are comfortable on long drives, and the boot is spacious. |
Buyers who face slippery roads | Standard quattro AWD adds grip and confidence when roads get wet. |
The buyer it suits least is someone who needs to seat three adults at the back, as we at Autocar India feel the rear is best for two. Also note that neither variant gets ventilated seats or a 360-degree camera.

Audi Q3 price & variants
The Q3 is sold in two variants, Nova and Zenith. Both get the same 2.0-litre turbo-petrol, 7-speed DCT and quattro AWD, so the difference comes down to features.
The 2026 Audi Q3 price in India starts at Rs 51.99 lakh for the base variant, Nova, and goes up to Rs 55.99 lakh for the top variant, Zenith (ex-showroom). The outgoing model was priced from Rs 43.67 lakh to Rs 53 lakh (ex-showroom). If you are buying this Audi car on a loan, EMIs of the base variant start at Rs 87,685 a month..
Which Q3 variant should you buy?
- Go for the base variant if you want the Q3 for how it drives. It gets the same engine, gearbox, quattro AWD and suspension as the top_variant, along with the panoramic sunroof, 3-zone climate control and both screens.
- Pick the top variant if you want the Digital Matrix LED headlights, the Sonos sound system and the head-up display. It also adds rear side airbags, taking the total to nine.
As per us at Autocar India, the 2026 Q3 makes the most sense if you value driving pleasure and a well-engineered mechanical package over a long feature list.
Note: Audi opened pre-bookings for the new Q3 at Rs 1 lakh, and the SUV is locally assembled in India.

8.0
The new Audi Q3 swaps the previous model’s crisp, edgy styling for a more fluid and flamboyant design, while retaining its compact footprint with an unchanged 2,681mm wheelbase. The front gets split headlamps, a wide honeycomb grille and a flat Audi logo that conceals the ADAS radar. The highlight is the Digital Matrix LED lighting, which uses 25,600 individually controlled pixels per headlamp to project light onto the road and illuminate the lane into which the car is turning. Selectable DRL signatures, striking alloy wheels, a floating-roof effect and connected LED tail-lamps with an illuminated Audi logo complete the updates, although the grille’s finish feels a little plasticky up close.
8.0
The cabin is a significant step forward, with a curved dashboard panel housing an 11.9-inch digital instrument display and a 12.8-inch touchscreen. Fabric upholstery and hard lower plastics take away some of the premium feel, but the cabin feels robustly assembled. The touchscreen is responsive, and permanently accessible climate controls make everyday operation easier, although the control stalk takes some getting used to and the instrument cluster offers limited customisation. The front seats are generous and comfortable, while the rear is best suited to two adults, with limited room for a third. A third climate zone, USB-C ports, a spacious boot and a space-saver spare wheel add to its practicality.
7.0
The Q3 gets a 12-speaker Sonos sound system, a panoramic sunroof, powered and heated front seats with driver memory, a head-up display, adaptive cruise control and nine airbags. However, the equipment list has some notable omissions for a luxury SUV in this price bracket. There is no lane-keep assist, ventilated seats or 360-degree camera, while the reversing camera’s resolution is disappointing. An auto-park function is available, but the overall ADAS package feels limited compared with what some more affordable cars offer. Wireless phone mirroring also suffered from connectivity issues during the test, although this could potentially be addressed through a software update.
9.0
The 2.0-litre TFSI turbo-petrol engine is one of the Q3’s biggest strengths, producing 204hp and 320Nm. It delivers smooth, strong performance and pulls eagerly once past a slight hesitation at low revs. The seven-speed dual-clutch automatic is a good match, responding quickly to throttle inputs and dropping gears readily when more performance is needed. Audi claims a 0–100kph time of 7.1 seconds, while standard Quattro all-wheel drive provides additional traction on slippery surfaces. Multiple drive modes, including an off-road setting, add versatility, although the low-speed hesitation takes away slightly from an otherwise impressive powertrain.
9.0
The Q3 impresses with a balance of agile handling and everyday comfort. Its variable-ratio steering is light at parking speeds and becomes quicker and more direct as the steering lock increases, offering reassuring precision on winding roads. Despite the relatively quick steering, the SUV remains stable at higher speeds and changes direction with surprising agility. The suspension is firm but well judged, absorbing potholes and broken road surfaces without making the ride uncomfortable. The high-profile tyres also help cushion impacts before they reach the suspension, contributing to the Q3’s composed ride.
8.0
The new Q3 makes a strong impression with its excellent engine, standard Quattro all-wheel drive, polished driving dynamics and a cabin that feels more substantial than before. However, its feature list falls short in areas such as seat ventilation, a 360-degree camera and a more comprehensive ADAS package. At an estimated on-road price of around Rs 65 lakh, it also faces a challenge in convincing buyers to pay significantly more than the outgoing model, whose transaction prices had fallen to around Rs 40 lakh. Nevertheless, for buyers who value driving enjoyment, refinement and a well-engineered mechanical package over an exhaustive list of features, the new Q3 remains a compelling enthusiast-focused choice in the entry-level luxury SUV segment.

Questions you may find useful
I am planning to buy a new vehicle for myself and my parents. I have seen the new Audi Q3 2026 and am quite interested in it, but I am not fully convinced about the petrol-only option. I was hoping for a hybrid version, especially considering fuel efficiency at this price point. Secondly, I am also looking for a 4x4 and am currently waiting for the new Fortuner. However, I am confused because many people are suggesting the new Scorpio N or Thar Roxx, saying that if the primary purpose is off-roading, there is no need to spend so much on a Fortuner. Please suggest what would be the better option for my requirements.
The Audi New Q3 is a good choice if you want a premium, comfortable SUV, but I would not buy it expecting a hybrid. The India-spec Q3 is expected to use a 2.0-litre turbo-petrol engine with 204hp, a 7-speed DCT and quattro AWD, with no confirmed hybrid version for India. If your requirement is genuine 4x4 capability, the Toyota Fortuner remains a very different proposition. The next-generation Fortuner is already being tested and is expected in India by early 2027. It is expected to retain petrol and diesel engines, 4x4 capability and the ladder-frame construction, while gaining a much more modern cabin and ADAS.The Mahindra Scorpio N is the sensible alternative if you want a capable 4x4 without spending Fortuner money. The Thar Roxx makes more sense if off-road ability is the priority, but it is less comfortable and practical as a family SUV.For parents, the Q3 will be considerably easier to live with in the city, while the Fortuner is better suited to long-distance touring and serious rough-road use.
I’m considering the Volkswagen Tayron R-Line, Audi Q3, BMW X1, and MINI Countryman petrol. I drive myself and am looking for a car that offers a good balance of features, comfort, and driving pleasure. Which one would be the best choice?
The Audi New Q3 might be significantly more expensive than the other options you've listed. However, if you're referring to the outgoing model available at a discounted price, we'd recommend you to certainly consider it. The Audi Q3 has a strong 2.0 TSI engine, and its ride comfort is excellent too. Additionally, the all-wheel drive system makes it an able handler. So if you like to drive, this one is certainly worth considering. You'll also appreciate the cabin quality and seat comfort. And while it has the basics, some features like ventilated seats, wireless Android Auto/Apple CarPlay, powered tailgate, etc are missing. The BMW X1 will be a lot more spacious in comparison, however its turbo-petrol engine doesn't match the Audi's performance or responsiveness.
