Tata Tiago EV introductory pricing extended; top models in demand

Citing strong interest pouring in for its entry-level EV, Tata Motors has decided to extend the introductory pricing to the first 20,000 customers – up from the 10,000 announced at launch. The brand had also announced that the introductory pricing will be reserved for 2,000 existing Nexon EV and Tigor EV customers.

As we have reported earlier, the Tiago EV saw a good response at dealerships as soon as the prices were announced. Sources tell us that out of the 10,000 bookings, more than 2,200 are from Maharashtra alone.

Dealers tell us that the top-spec XZ+ Tech Lux is the most preferred variant, and Teal Blue and Pristine White are the preferred paint options. The higher variants of the Tiago EV get equipment like rain-sensing wipers, automatic headlamps, TPMS and leatherette upholstery. Price difference between Tata Tiago EV, Tigor EV, Nexon EV Prime

As far as pricing goes, the Tiago EV starts at Rs 8.49 lakh for the XE variant and tops out at Rs 11.79 lakh for the fully loaded Tiago EV XZ+ Tech Lux. At this price, the top-spec Tiago EV costs Rs 1.85 lakh less than the fully loaded Tigor EV and Rs 5.51 lakh less the top-spec Nexon EV prime.

Tata Tiago EV: battery, range and powertrain details

The Tiago EV is powered by Tata's Ziptron high-voltage architecture and comes with two battery pack options. With the smaller battery pack (19.2kWh), the Tiago EV’s electric motor produces 61hp and 110Nm, while with the larger unit (24 kWh), it makes 74hp and 114Nm. The Tiago EV’s entry-level XE variant gets the smaller battery pack, which gives it a 250km of range (MIDC), while higher XT, XZ and XZ+ Tech Lux variants get the bigger battery, giving them a 315km range (MIDC). The Tiago EV is capable of fast charging as well and both battery packs can be topped from 10 percent to 80 percent in 57 minutes using a 50kW fast charger.

Tata Tiago EV delivery time

Tata Motors has announced that the Tiago EV's top models will be prioritised for delivery, once the process starts in January next year. Sources tell us that the entry-level and mid-variants of the Tiago EV will be delivered by February or early March 2023.
