Tata Motors has announced a 0.5 percent price increase for its internal combustion engine (ICE) vehicle portfolio - petrol, diesel and CNG - effective April 1. "This revision is being undertaken to partially offset the continued increase in input costs," the Indian carmaker stated, while adding that the hike's extent will vary across models and variants.
- Tata's ICE lineup spans 9 models, covering hatchbacks, sedans and SUVs
- Increased cost of raw materials, parts behind the price hike

Tata hasn’t shared which models will get the biggest price hikes, or exact price revisions for each car. Tata's most affordable model is the Tiago hatchback, priced from Rs 4.57 lakh, while the Safari SUV is the most expensive model with a starting price of Rs 13.29 lakh. And as per the current Tata car prices, a price adjustment between Rs 2,285 and Rs 12,980 is likely, depending on the model.
Higher costs of raw materials, parts and manufacturing, along with supply chain issues and currency fluctuations, have made it harder for carmakers to manage costs. Car price hikes around the start of a new financial year are quite common. Both Mercedes-Benz and BMW have also announced a steeper 2 percent price hike, effective April 1.
