Select Maruti Suzuki car prices hiked by up to 4.7 percent

Maruti Suzuki has officially increased prices of select models that retail from both, its Arena and Nexa outlets, citing an increase in input costs. While the exact hike for each model is yet unknown, prices for cars like the Alto, S-Presso, Wagon R, Swift and Ertiga (all sold via Maruti’s Arena showrooms), along with the a few of the brand's Nexa models - like the Baleno and XL6 - have increased by up to 4.7 percent. The price hike, which came into effect on January 27, 2020, seems to be restricted to models that have already been upgraded to meet BS6 norms.

2020 will be an interesting year for the Japanese carmaker – it’s got a 17-car strong line-up at the upcoming Auto Expo and is stepping into the BS6 era as a petrol-only brand. Though diesels may come back to Maruti’s line-up, in the short term, the company will have a heavier focus on CNG vehicles and the electrification of its range on sale in India.
