Maruti Suzuki Alto BS6 CNG launched at Rs 4.33 lakh

Maruti Suzuki India has launched the CNG variant of the BS6 Alto, with a claimed mileage of 31.59 km/kg. This is the company’s first BS6-compliant CNG vehicle. Available in two variants, the Alto CNG LXi trim is priced at Rs 4.33 lakh while the higher-spec LXi (O) variant costs Rs 4.36 lakh (ex-showroom, Delhi).

Maruti Suzuki claims that the new S-CNG vehicle range is aligned with and complements the Government of India’s vision of reducing oil imports and enhancing the share of natural gas in the energy basket of the country from the current 6.2 percent to 15 percent by 2030.

Maruti Suzuki S-CNG vehicles are equipped with dual interdependent ECUs (Electronic Control Units) and an intelligent injection system. The brand claims that the vehicles are specially tuned and calibrated to deliver optimum performance and enhanced drivability across all kinds of terrains.

The Alto was among the Maruti vehicles to become BS6-compliant, and the company claims to have already sold over 1 lakh BS6-compliant Altos in the country.  With timely upgrades, the brand Alto has stayed relevant and continues to be one of the bestselling cars in the country. Maruti Suzuki recently introduced the top-spec Alto VXi+, with the SmartPlay Studio infotainment suite, which is said to be tailor-made to offer a unique technology-driven experience.

On the introduction of Alto BS6 S-CNG, Shashank Srivastava, executive director (Marketing & Sales), Maruti Suzuki India said, “At Maruti Suzuki, we continuously strive to offer products that are technologically advanced and environment-friendly. With the introduction of Alto BS6 S-CNG, we reinforce our efforts towards sustainable green mobility. The Alto BS 6 S-CNG is designed to deliver optimum performance, safety, engine durability, convenience, and mileage. Maruti Suzuki’s large portfolio of green vehicles is a testimony of its commitment towards environment. We are encouraged with wide acceptance of S-CNG technology by our customers.”
