Suzuki has unveiled the new XBEE (pronounced Crossbee) compact crossover at the Japan Mobility Show 2025. It is a facelift of the model that was first introduced in 2017 and comes with updated styling inside and out. The new Suzuki XBEE features the Z12E petrol engine, which also powers the Swift in India.

  1. XBEE is a 3.76-metre-long compact crossover
  2. It’s powered by the 1.2-litre Z12E petrol engine

The XBEE’s boxy and upright stance is quite reminiscent of the Maruti S-Presso sold in India, although the former is about 200mm longer. The 2025 update brings new round headlamps, a new grille with silver garnishes and chunkier cladding for the lower body. The car also gets new dual-tone paintwork and a smart set of new alloy wheels that lend it a slightly more premium appeal than before.

On the inside, the XBEE gets a new steering wheel, similar to the one in the Victoris in India, and a new digital instrument cluster. There’s new switchgear on the centre console, which is again familiar from the newer Marutis in India. The gear lever console has a floating design, and the high-set infotainment screen is similar to that in the Jimny. Despite being a compact model, the XBEE is packaged to maximise space and has clever storage spaces throughout the cabin.

Suzuki XBEE platform and engine

The Suzuki XBEE is based on the brand’s Heartect platform. The pre-facelift version had a 1.0-litre turbo-petrol engine, but this 2025 update has swapped it out with the 1.2-litre, 3-cylinder mild-hybrid Z12E petrol engine. The unit comes mated to a CVT gearbox, driving the front wheels.

The XBEE is sold exclusively in Japan, and Suzuki has no plans to bring the model to India. However, if brought here, it could be a potential rival to the likes of the Tata Punch and Hyundai Exter
