    1. C3 Aircross for Europe will be an EV initially
    2. Will get seven seat layout, more features
    3. Citroen Basalt Coupe coming to India later this year

Euro-spec C3 Aircross: what is different?

The new C3 Aircross is expected to have similar styling cues as the new eC3 sold in Europe. The teaser reveals its angular C-shaped LED DRLs, a dual-tone paint scheme, the new Citroen emblem up front, and the fact that an all-electric powertrain will be offered at launch. The C3 Aircross in India does not get an EV powertrain as of now, but it's expected to be introduced in the near future.

The front and rear bumpers resemble the European C3 hatchback but get more cladding to make the C3 Aircross look more rugged. The tail-lamp design isn’t clearly visible but one can expect it to look similar to the new eC3 hatchback that's sold in Europe.

    Euro-spec C3 Aircross: expected powertrain

The C3 Aircross will debut as an EV first with the eC3 badging, and most likely come with the same powertrain as the eC3 hatchback. Citroen may also use the same 44kWh battery pack on the next-gen C3 Aircross with better range. The C3 Aircross could also receive an ICE powertrain at a later date.

The eC3 hatchback in India is priced from Rs 11.61 lakh-13.35 lakh, and the eC3 Aircross SUV is yet to make its debut here. Once launched, the eC3 Aircross will rival the upcoming Creta EV and the Tata Curvv EV among others.

    India-spec C3 Aircross: price, rivals

The changes on the Euro-spec C3 Aircross will not be made to the Indian model, and the latter will carry on in its current avatar until a mid-life update arrives a few years down the line. The C3 Aircross is priced from Rs 10 lakh-14.27 lakh, but is currently available with a discount of Rs 1 lakh. Being a seven-seater, it does not have a direct rival, but at its price point, it competes with the Hyundai Creta, Kia Seltos, Maruti Suzuki Grand Vitara, and so on.

Citroen is currently testing the production-ready version of the Basalt SUV coupe, which is based on the C3 Aircross, and is set to go on sale here in the second half of 2024.
