Mercedes-Benz has reported that it has sold 12,768 units between January-September 2023. However, despite that being a 11 percent growth year-to-date, the carmaker has acknowledged that deliveries of its SUV range – the GLA, GLC and the GLS – are delayed due to the ongoing supply constraints, especially in the third quarter of this year.

    1. E-Class sedan continues to be the bestseller for the brand
    2. Top-end vehicles contributed nearly 25 percent of all sales

    Mercedes-Benz India sales performance: January-September 2023

Following sales of 8,528 units by the half-year mark, Mercedes sold 4,240 units in the last quarter with the E-Class sedan still retaining the tag of the brand’s bestseller in India. Mercedes also continued with strong momentum at the top-end vehicle segment (TEV as Mercedes calls it), which comprises the Mercedes-Maybach models, the S-Class, AMG and the EQ models. Mercedes recorded 25 percent of total sales year-to-date from the TEV segment, growing 22 percent in the same period.

Unsurprisingly, SUVs continued to be the favourite body style, but Mercedes has been facing global supply constraints for its SUV range. The company says the newly launched GLC also raked up good demand, but most customers are still awaiting deliveries. We've also reported previously that Mercedes faced supply challenges for the EQB electric SUV.

    Two new launches by Diwali

Mercedes also confirmed that it will launch two more models in India by Diwali. The teaser image showed the silhouette of two models, one sedan and one SUV, and we expect the latter to be the facelifted GLE SUV. A facelift for the GLE was globally introduced in February this year, while the outgoing model has already been delisted from the brand’s India website. However, it remains to be seen what the new sedan turns out to be.
