Maruti hits highest-ever exports with 4.48 lakh units in FY2026

The carmaker retained its position as India’s top vehicle exporter for the fifth consecutive year.

Maruti Suzuki recorded its highest-ever exports in the financial year ended March 2026 by shipping 4.48 lakh units, up from 3.33 lakh units in FY2025. The automaker was India’s top passenger vehicle (PV) exporter for the fifth straight year, accounting for 49 percent of such shipments. The company’s exports were also boosted by the made-in-India e Vitara, its first EV, which is now being shipped to 44 countries, up from 29 earlier. Production of the e Vitara began at Maruti Suzuki's Hansalpur plant in Gujarat in August 2025.

During the company’s latest earnings call, its chairman, RC Bhargava, said, “Exports are something that national interests require. New FTAs [free-trade agreements] are happening. Today, we read about the New Zealand FTA. It’s going to open up new areas for us.”

Total sales during the same period stood at 24.22 lakh units, up from 22.34 lakh in FY2025. Domestic sales stood at 19.74 lakh units. Net sales climbed 20.2 percent to Rs 1.74 lakh crore, while net profit touched an all-time high of approximately Rs 14,445 crore.

The company also posted its best-ever quarterly sales of 6.76 lakh units in the January-March period, up 11.8 percent year on year. Domestic sales came in at 5.39 lakh units, while exports hit a record 1.37 lakh units. Net sales for the quarter rose to Rs 50,079 crore, and operating profit reached a record Rs 4,409.2 crore. Net profit, however, fell 6.9 percent to Rs 3,590.5 crore.
