Mahindra Electric has announced that its electric vehicles, the e2o and e2o Plus, have completed a total of 50 million purely electric kilometres on India’s roads.

Driving the electric models has contributed to a saving of 2,50,000kg worth of carbon dioxide emissions into the environment, the equivalent of planting 25,000 new trees. Mahindra claims that the milestone indicates a more eco-friendly future for the country and supports the Electric Mobility revolution. The milestone is also in line with the Indian government’s policy to become an all-electric nation by 2030.

The CEO of Mahindra Electric, Mahesh Babu, claimed that the distance travelled by the electric cars is the equivalent of driving to Mars.

The e2o models are produced at Mahindra Electric’s factory in Bengaluru. The top-spec e2o Plus is powered by a 72V battery back with a claimed range of 140km. The battery powers a motor with a peak output of 41hp at 3,500rpm and 91Nm at 2,500rpm. The lower spec variants come with a 48V battery.

Neither the e2o nor the e2o Plus have any direct competitors in India.
