Kia has joined the growing list of carmakers offering a Battery-as-a-Service (BaaS) scheme by introducing it for the Carens Clavis EV. Under this, Kia is charging a rental fee of Rs 3.3 per km for both the 42kWh and 51.4kWh options.

Separate loan accounts for chassis and battery
For customers availing of the BaaS scheme for the Carens Clavis EV, separate loan accounts will be created for the chassis and battery. While the chassis loan will be repaid like a standard loan, Kia will charge Rs 3.3 per km as the battery rental fee. The loan tenure for the chassis will be up to 60 months (5 years), whereas the battery can be rented for up to 96 months (8 years).
With battery cost excluded, the Kia Carens Clavis EV starts at Rs 12.84 lakh for the 42kWh version and Rs 15.94 lakh for the 51.4kWh variants. For context, without BaaS, the 42kWh version is priced from Rs 17.99 lakh to Rs 20.49 lakh, and the larger battery variants cost Rs 21.99 lakh to Rs 24.99 lakh.
In March, Kia rolled out the MY2026 update for the Carens Clavis EV, equipping it with new bumpers, fresh alloy wheels and new variants. Aside from the battery rental scheme, nothing has changed for this MPV.
