As we had previously reported, Jeep is gearing up to add a new top-spec variant to its Compass line-up, the Limited Plus, with bookings having begun at select dealerships for an amount of Rs 51,000. We can now reveal that prices for the new Compass Limited Plus will officially be revealed on September 20, 2018. Jeep claims that the launch date has been moved forward due to significant interest for the new variant, which was the result of the first set of spy shots that had been published online. Deliveries for the Compass Limited Plus will begin in early October.

The range-topping trim is expected to cost about Rs 1.5 lakh more than the current highest trim, the Limited (O) 4x4, which is priced at Rs 21.94 lakh. For this premium, Jeep has equipped the Limited Plus with more features in the form of a panoramic sunroof, a dual-tone exterior finish (courtesy a gloss black roof) and new design alloy wheels.

In addition, the cabin of the Compass Limited Plus also sports more kit, such as a larger 8.4-inch touchscreen infotainment system and tan leather seats with a power adjust function for the driver and the front passenger.

Mechanically, the Limited Plus is identical to the Limited (O) 4x4 and is powered by the same 163hp, 1.4-litre turbo-petrol and 173hp, 2.0-litre diesel engines. The former is mated to a 7-speed dual-clutch automatic transmission that powers the front wheels only while the latter gets a 6-speed manual that sends power to all-four wheels as standard.

Besides introducing the new top-spec Limited Plus variant, Jeep is looking to capitalise on the 2018 festive season and expand the Compass’ line-up by also bringing out the Compass Black Pack at Rs Rs 20.59 lakh for the petrol-automatic, going up to Rs 22.03 lakh for the diesel-manual with 4x4.

The brand is also expected to bring the more rugged Trailhawk-badged Compass to our market early in 2019.

The expanded Compass line-up should help Jeep improve sales figures in this segment, where rival SUVs like the Hyundai Tucson, Honda CR-V and the Volkswagen Tiguan vie for supremacy.
