Ford Maverick global debut on June 8

Ford will take the wraps off the all-new Maverick compact pickup truck on June 8, 2021. The Ford Maverick is the brand's fresh entry in the segment, after a very long gap.

    • Will be sold in North America as well
    • India to get Ford Ranger pickup truck in near future

    Ford Maverick: what is it?

The new Ford Maverick, as mentioned above, will be the brand's smallest pickup truck and will be positioned below the Ford Ranger. It will be based on a monocoque platform and will share its underpinnings with the recently unveiled Bronco Sport SUV and also the popular Ford Escape.  As seen in this leaked image, the vehicle gets a slab-sided design that looks similar to the Bronco and uses a decent amount of cladding, along with a combination of chunky wheels and tyres, to add to its ruggedness.

While not much has been revealed yet, we expect the smallest pickup from Ford to come with a 2.0-litre EcoBoost turbo-petrol engine that will deliver around 250hp. There will be a few other engine options as well that will be revealed along with a long list of variants on June 8, 2021.

Ford Maverick: will it come to India?

The Maverick is primarily aimed at emerging markets, like South America for starters. The model will also be sold in the United States and a few other left-hand-drive markets. There is no news of the Maverick getting a right-hand-drive version as of now, which means chances of it coming to India are next to none. Ford, however, has begun work on an all-new C-segment SUV for India that will sit below the Endeavour (also due for a full model change in the future). A major update for the EcoSport is on the cards as well.
