Toyota has formally pulled the covers off the Century Coupe at the Japan Mobility Show 2025. Previously used for a sedan and SUV, Toyota’s Century nameplate will operate as an ultra-luxury sub-brand going forward, positioned above Lexus and aimed at taking on the likes of Rolls-Royce and Bentley. The Century Coupe spearheads these ambitions for Toyota, though the Japanese carmaker remains tight-lipped on launch plans.
- Toyota Century Coupe features upright coupe SUV design
- Inside, it gets a 2-seat setup separated by red laser lights
- Century Coupe could be powered by V6 PHEV powertrain
Toyota Century Coupe exterior design
Amber colour is made up of 60 paint layers.

As the name suggests, the Century Coupe is a 2-door coupe SUV. It’s finished in a unique amber shade that comprises 60 layers of paint, claims Toyota, and the Century phoenix motif is peppered throughout the bodywork. The Century Coupe’s upright fascia features split LED headlights flanking a honeycomb-patterned body-coloured grille. Combine the latter with the bonnet ducts, and it makes for strong evidence that the Century Coupe is hiding an engine at the front.
ORVMs and rear windshield are absent.

Over to the side, the Century Coupe gets blacked-out 10-spoke alloy wheels with red brake calipers peeking out from behind, concealed door handles, and gloss-black body cladding and door trim. Interestingly, the rear windshield is completely absent, and so are the outside rearview mirrors (ORVMs). The lower half of the window line extends much further back, and the tail-lamps sport a similar split setup as the headlights.
Toyota Century Coupe interior
Red lasers beam out from centre console.

Beyond the sliding doors, the Century Coupe’s radical cabin layout is headlined by what looks to be a wall of diagonal red laser lights next to the driver’s seat, projecting from the centre console to the headliner. There isn’t much of a dashboard in here, with the yoke steering wheel surrounded by a trio of screens that handle multimedia, instrumentation and vehicle functions.
No seats for front passenger and driver-side rear passenger.

Expectedly, the interior also has lots of phoenix motifs scattered about, and there’s ambient lighting all around. To ensure easy access to the single rear seat and provide acres of legroom, Toyota has opted against adding a front passenger seat in the Century Coupe.
Toyota Century Coupe powertrain
May use V6 plug-in hybrid setup.

As mentioned above, the Century Coupe is likely carrying an engine under the hood. Toyota hasn’t disclosed specifics on the Century Coupe’s powertrain, but it could use the same 406hp 3.5-litre V6 plug-in hybrid setup as the Century SUV. This powertrain is mated to an 8-speed automatic gearbox sending power to all four wheels.
