BMW i7 M70 xDrive: more details

Earlier this year, we brought you exclusive news that the range-topping M70 variant, which is the first all-electric BMW M model, will make it to India. Now the i7 M70 is finally here and it uses a twin motor setup that puts out 650hp and 1015Nm, making it the most powerful electric BMW ever. Powering the motors is a 101.7kWh lithium-ion battery pack that is claimed to provide it with a range of up to 560km (WLTP).

Being an M model, the i7 M70 gets M-specific bumpers, side skirts, mirrors, alloys and rear spoiler. It also gets Swarovski crystal headlights, blacked out front grille and window line and blue M calipers. There are 8 paint options available along with a special two-tone finish with a contrasting roof.

Inside, the i7 M70 gets an M leather steering wheel, an M roofliner and 6 upholstery choices. Furthermore, buyers can opt for BMW Individual upholstery which has 9 more upholstery options and three interior trim options. Other features include dual screens up front, executive lounge seating, heated, ventilated and massaging seats all around, the rear seat theatre screen, a Bowers and Wilkins Diamond audio system, four-zone auto climate control, soft close doors and much more.

The M70 joins the xDrive60 (Rs 1.95 crore) in BMW India’s i7 range and it rivals the AMG EQS 53 4Matic+, which costs Rs 2.45 crore.

BMW 740d M Sport: more details

The new 740d M Sport, meanwhile, joins the 740i (Rs 1.70 crore) in the internal combustion engined 7 Series range. Powering the 740d is a 3.0-litre, inline six-cylinder diesel engine that puts out 286hp and 650Nm, enough to propel it from 0-100kph in a claimed 6sec. This engine also comes with mild-hybrid tech with a 48V electric motor which gives it an additional 18hp and 200Nm and it comes paired to an 8-speed automatic transmission. The 740d also loses out on the remote start function that’s present on the 740i. Other than that, the new 740d is identical to its petrol-powered sibling. It rivals the Mercedes S-class, Audi A8 L and Lexus LS.
