Audi India has voluntarily recalled 207 electric vehicle units over a brake-related issue, including the Q8 e-tron and Q8 e-tron Sportback nameplates, along with their respective pre-facelift versions – the e-tron and e-tron Sportback

  1. The issue pertains to bolted connection for brake servo push rod
  2. Affected units were produced between February 2, 2018 and June 11, 2024
  3. Audi India currently has no electric vehicle on sale

This was published on the SIAM (Society of Indian Automobile Manufacturers) website, but it does not specify how many exact units of each model are affected, only the total number. The affected units were manufactured between February 2, 2018 and June 11, 2024. Audi currently has no EV on sale in the country.

The issue relates to the bolted connection for the brake servo push rod. It may not meet the required technical specifications and could gradually loosen over time. If this happens, a secure mechanical connection between the brake pedal and the brake servo cannot be guaranteed.

"In the unlikely event that the connection were to become completely loose, these vehicles are equipped with a controlled emergency braking function, which can be activated by pressing and holding the electromechanical parking brake button on the centre console," SIAM stated.

Solution for affected vehicles

As is usually the case with recalls, Audi dealerships will contact owners whose vehicles are affected and replace the part at no cost if it is found defective. For any queries or concerns, owners can dial 1800-419-5757, or send a mail to customer.first@myaudi.in.
