Mahindra Thar facelift launched

The mid-lifecycle refresh for the Mahindra Thar has launched today, with prices starting at Rs 9.99 lakh. Along with some exterior changes, the Thar facelift gets a number of interior and feature updates. Unlike the outgoing Thar, the facelift is not available with a soft-top option at launch.

Considering the outgoing model’s Rs 10.32 lakh starting price, the 2025 Thar facelift costs Rs 32,000 less, but the range-topping Thar LXT 4WD AT variant’s Rs 16.99 lakh price tag is Rs 38,000 higher than the previous model’s Rs 16.61 lakh.

2025 Mahindra Thar facelift exterior changes

New exterior colours, a body-coloured grille and a dual-tone front bumper 

In terms of changes to the outside, the refreshed Thar gets a body-coloured grille, a dual-tone front bumper and two new exterior colour options – Tango Red (which replaces the previous red colour) and Battleship Grey. The rest looks the same as the outgoing model, from the headlights and tail-lights to the 18-inch alloy wheels.

Fuel lid can now be opened from the inside; power window switches now on doors

The Thar facelift’s interior sees more changes, such as a new black dashboard theme, a new steering wheel, rear AC vents, door-mounted power window switches, individual centre armrests for the front passenger and driver with storage, a grab handle on the A-pillar and a fuel-lid opener button near the steering.

2025 Mahindra Thar facelift new features

Rear camera and 10.25-inch touchscreen are new

Compared to the outgoing model, the safety kit on the Thar facelift includes a rear wiper and washer and a rear camera. The feature list has also expanded with a new 10.25-inch infotainment touchscreen, which comes with an updated off-road suite.

2025 Mahindra Thar facelift engine and gearbox options

Same engine and gearbox options continue

The same three engine options – a 152hp 2.0-litre turbo-petrol, a 119hp 1.5-litre diesel and a 132hp 2.2-litre diesel – and their respective gearbox options continue. As before, 4WD is offered as an option on the 2.0-litre turbo-petrol, while it is standard for the 2.2-litre diesel.
