VW is bringing a new three-row SUV, while existing models will receive a facelift.

It has been over three years since Volkswagen launched the Virtus, and over four years since the Taigun reached showrooms. Although the two models constitute the bulk of VW’s overall sales in India, they have not received any significant updates since making their debut. This is set to change in 2026 as Volkswagen plans to not only facelift the Virtus and Taigun but also launch an all-new SUV called the Tayron. Here is what we know so far about Volkswagen’s upcoming models for India.

Volkswagen Tayron (Launch in H1 2026)

Price: Rs 45 lakh to Rs 50 lakh (est.), Engine: 2.0L petrol

The Tayron will mark Volkswagen’s re-entry into the three-row premium SUV space, replacing the Tiguan Allspace, which was discontinued a while ago. It will be locally assembled from CKD kits at VW’s Aurangabad facility and is expected to be positioned below the Tiguan R-Line in terms of pricing.

The Tayron will be powered by a 2.0-litre TSI petrol engine delivering 204hp and 320Nm of torque, coupled with a 7-speed DSG automatic gearbox and all-wheel drive. The VW Tayron will share most of its styling cues with the Tiguan R-Line, but it will be longer to accommodate a third row. The feature set should be similar, too.

Volkswagen Taigun facelift (Launch in Q3 2026)

Price: Rs 12 lakh to Rs 19 lakh (est.), Engines: 1.0L and 1.5L petrol

The Taigun facelift has been spotted testing, and while there won’t be much in terms of sheet metal, it will be getting updates to the soft parts, along with redesigned alloy wheels. It will retain the same engine options as the outgoing model while likely featuring a new 8-speed torque-converter automatic gearbox with the 1.0-litre TSI mill, which currently gets a 6-speed automatic transmission. Feature additions to the updated Taigun could include a panoramic sunroof and ADAS.

Volkswagen Virtus facelift (Launch in Q4 2026)

Price: Rs 12 lakh to Rs 18 lakh (est.), Engines: 1.0L and 1.5L petrol

The upcoming Volkswagen Virtus is expected to get an updated front and rear design, along with a new design for the alloy wheels. Much of the interior and feature set will be shared with the facelifted Taigun, while ADAS could be a new addition. Engine options will remain as is, with the 1.5-litre TSI petrol engine being paired to either a 7-speed DSG or a 6-speed manual. However, the 6-speed automatic, which is currently mated to the 1.0-litre TSI unit, may make way for a new, localised 8-speed torque-converter automatic.
