One of the first new Tata cars to feature a BS-VI-compliant petrol engine will be the Tigor facelift. We had previously reported on how the refreshed Tiago will drop the 1.05-litre diesel and get a BS-VI petrol engine, the same 85hp 1.2-litre motor shared with the Tata Tigor. Like the hatchback it is based on, the new Tigor will also be available with just the petrol engine. Tata had updated the Tigor in October last year with a new top-spec XZ+ variant, slightly different exterior design, and more equipment in the cabin.

Besides the new motor, the Tata Tigor facelift will also get a number of design tweaks to the exterior, such as a more aggressive nose (similar to the Tata Altroz) and front bumpers. While the rear is also expected to get a redesigned bumper, the alloy wheels on the spied model look unchanged; they’re the same 15-inch black-finished wheels currently available on the top-spec Tigor XZ+.

Changes to the cabin are expected to include minor styling tweaks to the dashboard, new interior trim, new seat upholstery and an updated touchscreen infotainment system, which will be Android Auto and Apple CarPlay compatible. In terms of safety kit, all variants of the compact sedan already get dual front airbags and ABS, though Tata will equip all trims of the Tigor facelift with rear parking sensors, a speed alert system and seatbelt reminders for the driver and front passenger.

When it launches in India, the new Tata Tigor’s prices will definitely rise by a significant amount, though it is still expected to undercut rivals like the Maruti Suzuki Dzire, Ford Aspire, Honda Amaze and Hyundai Xcent.
