Hyundai’s popular compact SUV, the Venue, has been awarded a 5-star safety rating by Bharat NCAP. The Venue is Hyundai’s second model to be crash-tested by Bharat NCAP – the now-discontinued Tucson was the first – and it has scored 31.15 out of 32 points in adult occupant protection (AOP) and 44.46 out of 49 points in child occupant protection (COP).
- HX2 diesel MT and HX10 diesel AT variants were tested
- 5-star BNCAP rating extends to all Venue variants, including N Line
- Standard safety kit includes 6 airbags, TPMS, rear parking sensors, and more
The frontal offset deformable barrier test results show that the Venue offered ‘good’ protection to the driver’s head, neck, pelvis, thighs and feet, while the chest and tibiae received ‘adequate’ protection. Meanwhile, all the co-driver’s critical body parts, save for the tibiae, saw ‘good’ protection. The protection for the tibiae was rated as ‘adequate’.
Coming to the side movable barrier test, the Venue scored full marks by offering ‘good’ protection to all parts of the crash dummy. The same holds true for the side pole impact test.
For the 18-month-old child dummy, the Venue scored 7.46 out of 8 in the frontal and 4 out of 4 in the side crash tests. For the 3-year-old child dummy, the Venue received full points in both the frontal and side crash tests. With a score of 12 out of 12, the CRS installation test was also a cakewalk for the Venue. However, it did lose 4 points in the vehicle assessment score.
