Underneath its svelte, Swedish bodywork are the KTM 390 Duke chassis and engine, so you should have a supremely talented bike that will also be uncommon.

The choice between the two depends largely on your typical highway cruising speeds.Both bikes offer an upright, neutral riding position that is well-suited to long hours in the saddle. From what you've described, it seems like the TVS Apache RTX 300 would be a good fit for your needs. The RTX is spacious, comfortable, loaded with features and has decent performance and fuel economy too. The downside here is that RTX waiting periods are on the higher side and since this is still a fairly new product, you may experience teething issues. Fully loaded with luggage and a pillion, its performance will also be quite modest. If you are open to extending your budget to account for the Royal Enfield Himalayan 450, we would strongly suggest you go down that route. The Himalayan has excellent suspension, gutsy performance and is a proven commodity today. The only real downside is it's heft and size but since you and your partner both are on the taller side, chances are, you should be able to make your peace with it or even welcome the added space on offer. Take rest rides of both machines and see which one you guys lean towards more.

Considering your long highway travel distances as well as the fact that you travel with a pillion frequently, an adventure bike should be on the top of your shortlist. The Royal Enfield Himalayan 450 is an excellent road touring machine and if you can manage its heft and size at slower speeds, it should be a fine fit for your use case. In case you want something more affordable and fuel efficient, the 350cc KTM 390 Adventure and TVS Apache RTX 300 are good alternatives to consider. The KTM bike has been around long enough that there are unlikely to be huge surprises in your ownership journey but the RTX is still a fairly new machine. A test ride of these three is the first order of business for you and take your preferred travel companion with you to get an accurate idea of pillion comfort as well.

While the latest KTM 390 Adventure might seem like a hardcore rally machine, it is actually quite a nice highway tourer. It has a punchy engine, comfortable ergonomics and good suspension comfort. Add to that the fact that it now has cruise control, and this has the potential to be a very nice touring bike at this price point. Since you are mostly riding on the road, we'd recommend going for the 390 Adventure X with the alloy wheels and 19-inch front wheel, as that will be the more road-friendly machine and also a whole lot more affordable. At this price point, even the Royal Enfield Himalayan 450 warrants serious consideration. It too has strong performance, great comfort and an even better tank range with its big 17L fuel tank, which will comein handy on long trips. One thing to bear in mind is that the Himalayan is quite a bit heavier than the 390 Adventure, especially when picking it up off the side stand and at slower speeds, when its top-heavy nature comes into play. Take a test ride of both to see which is the better fit for you.
