Hi team, I'm looking for a two-wheeler for city commuting and am open to both motorcycles and scooters, although I'd prefer a motorcycle. I'm 41 years old, weigh 98 kg and am 5'6" tall. I ride only in the city, mainly through Bengaluru's heavy traffic, with occasional stretches of open roads. My daily commute to and from work is around 10-20 km. I mostly ride alone, but occasionally carry my wife and my four-year-old child as pillion passengers. Budget isn't a concern. Please suggest suitable options, including newly launched models and those expected to launch soon. I currently own a first-edition Royal Enfield Hunter 350, but I don't like its proportions because it feels too cramped for me. I'm looking for a more relaxed riding position and comfortable suspension.

Since you already have a Hunter and are used to its power but want something more spacious, the logical next step would be to look at the Honda CB350 (formerly known as the H'ness CB350) and Royal Enfield Bullet / Classic 350. These bikes offer a similar level of performance and fuel economy but will be much more spacious and comfortable owing to their more open riding positions and better suspension setups (first-gen Hunter suspension was super stiff; it got updated rear shocks in 2025).The Honda is the lighter machine of the two bikes suggested above, and if you want ease-of-use on a daily basis, that will matter. To ensure you make an informed decision, take a test ride of both before you go ahead with your purchase.

I am 5'6" and have previously owned or ridden a Hero Glamour (2007–2010), a Bajaj Pulsar 125 (2012–2013), a Royal Enfield Electra (2013–2020, at my hometown) and an Apache RTR 160 (2016–2018, in the city where I worked). Currently, I use my father's Honda Aviator for short trips. Of all these bikes, I enjoyed the Royal Enfield Electra the most, particularly for its ride comfort and low-end torque. However, I did face some issues with the kick-start mechanism and gearbox. Since 2014, I have primarily used a car, and I am now looking for a motorcycle mainly for leisure and occasional rides. I am 40 years old, and my riding will mostly involve city commutes in bumper-to-bumper traffic, with a longer weekend ride once every three months. I prefer retro or classic styling and am not particularly interested in speed. Comfort, easy handling and looks are my priorities. The motorcycles I am considering are the Honda CB350C, Honda Rebel, Yamaha XSR (mainly because of its relatively low weight), Triumph T4 and Royal Enfield Meteor. My previous experience with the older Royal Enfield UCE engine makes me a little hesitant about buying another RE, although I am open to considering the Meteor if the newer J-series engine is a significant improvement. Considering my height, riding requirements and preferences, which one motorcycle would you recommend? I would appreciate advice based on real-world ownership experience, particularly regarding comfort in city traffic, ease of handling and long-term reliability. Thanks in advance for your suggestions.

Given your previous experience with an Electra, we'd recommend you take a look at the latest Royal Enfield Classic 350 / Bullet 350 models. The Meteor 350 is a good option too, but in a pure comfort-related comparison, it won't feel as plush as the aforementioned two over bad roads. These new models have the same feel as older REs but bring in modern reliability and a high level of both fit and finish as well as comfort - all things you are looking for. IIf you find the REs a bit too heavy to manage, you should alternatively look at the Honda CB350 model, which has a similar riding experience but is far lighter. We'd advise sticking to these bikes as the others don't seem to be in line with your needs.

Hello Autocar team, I am from Pune, and my father is looking for a bike for his daily office commute of around 50km (25km one way). His requirements are a comfortable seating position, decent fuel efficiency, good after-sales service and long-term reliability, and a low seat height, as he is 5 ft 5 in tall. He was initially considering the TVS Ronin base variant, but after reading about some after-sales issues, he is looking at other options as well. Since we already have a Hunter 350, he is considering the Royal Enfield Meteor 350 and Honda CB350RS. However, he is confused between the two, as the Meteor 350 is around 10kg heavier than the Hunter 350, while the CB350RS has a taller seat height. Could you please suggest which would be the better choice considering his usage and requirements? He is also considering an EV scooter, so suggestions for suitable options in that category would be helpful as well.

While the Royal Enfield Meteor 350's low seat height is surely welcoming, owing to its feet-forward riding position, you will feel more of the road imperfections you encounter. We'd recommend you instead look at the Bullet / Classic from RE's stable, as these bikes have more upright, natural riding triangles which will be useful over the long daily commute your father faces. The Honda CB350s offer a similar riding experience but are lighter and easier to manage. Given that your daily commute is quite long and likely to involve bad patches too, a motorcycle would be the more comfortable alternative to a scooter. However, if you must have an electric scooter, choose from proven options like the TVS iQube, Bajaj Chetak, Ather Rizta / Konarc and Vida VX2.

I am planning to buy a bike by the end of this year for a daily 25-40 km commute in Hyderabad. I’m currently considering the Honda CB350RS, Royal Enfield Meteor 350, and the upcoming Triumph Bonneville 350. Which one would you recommend, and are there any other bikes I should check out? Also, when is Bonneville 350 expected to launch?

The Honda CB350 models and Royal Enfield Hunter / Bullet / Classic 350 should be on your radar for the sort of usage you're going to put the machine through. The Meteor's feet-forward seating position places more load on your tailbone and also transfers the shock from road imperfections directly to your spine which is why we wouldn't recommend it for a long daily commute. The CB350s and the three RE 350s listed above have more natural, upright seating positions which will make them more suited to your usage. The Hondas are lighter on their feet than the RE Bullet and Classic and feel more manageable inside tight city traffic. The REs claw back some ground with their characterful and torquey J-series motor. Picking between them will boil down to what sort of experience you prefer and a test ride should help you determine which is the right one for you.

Hello, I work in industrial product sales and am looking to buy a bike that will help reduce back pain. My daily travel is around 80 km. I am comparing the Honda CB350 and Royal Enfield Meteor 350, but I am also open to other suggestions.

The Honda CB350 will be more comfortable between the two bikes you've shortlisted purely because the Meteor's feet-forward seating posture puts more weight on your tailbone and will send shocks directly to your spine. Instead, we'd recommend you take a look at the Bullet 350 from RE's stable at a similar price. If you are open to looking at other segments, then the Hero Xpulse 210 and TVS Apache RTX 300 will offer you even more comfort and practicality (owing to their well-thought-out luggage racks), especially if you mount your wares on the bike.Take test rides of these bikes and then make your decision.
