Hello, I work in industrial product sales and am looking to buy a bike that will help reduce back pain. My daily travel is around 80 km. I am comparing the Honda CB350 and Royal Enfield Meteor 350, but I am also open to other suggestions.

The Honda CB350 will be more comfortable between the two bikes you've shortlisted purely because the Meteor's feet-forward seating posture puts more weight on your tailbone and will send shocks directly to your spine. Instead, we'd recommend you take a look at the Bullet 350 from RE's stable at a similar price.

If you are open to looking at other segments, then the Hero Xpulse 210 and TVS Apache RTX 300 will offer you even more comfort and practicality (owing to their well-thought-out luggage racks), especially if you mount your wares on the bike.

Take test rides of these bikes and then make your decision.

Hello, I need guidance on buying a new bike for myself. I’m 5.7ft tall, and my main use will be city riding and highways, with occasional weekend bike trips. After doing quite a bit of research, I’ve shortlisted: • Honda CB350 H’ness • TVS RTX 300 (Base Model) • Triumph Speed 400 • Triumph Speed T4 I’m looking for something that’s comfortable for daily use but can also handle long rides and rough roads when needed. Right now I’m seriously confused Which one would you recommend and why?

Based on your requirements, the Triumph Speed T4 would be our recommendation. It strikes the best balance between daily comfort and weekend touring capability. The riding position is upright and relaxed, making it easy to live with in the city, while the engine is punchy enough for highway cruising and overtakes while simultaneously having a lovely low- and mid-range pull which helps in city traffic. It also feels more modern and engaging than the Honda CB350, which is a relaxed neo-retro but not as versatile or exciting to ride.If you can make the stretch for the Speed 400, certainly do, as it brings in better componentry, higher levels of fit & finish and more performance to the table while retaining all the strong points of the T4. The TVS Apache RTX 300 offers near-unbeatable value for money and, on paper, is very hard to fault. However, for all its strengths, it is plagued by some reliability concerns and after-sales issues, which make it hard to put our faith in it.

Hi, I am of 6 feet 4 inches tall and am looking for a bike under Rs. 2 lakh that should be fun to ride mostly for city use. It should also be suitable for occasional touring.

Given your build and your requirements, your options boil down to choosing between the Hero Xpulse 210 and the newly launched Honda XR300L. The Xpulse has been around for a while and we know what works and doesn't on that bike - its a known commodity. The XR300L, on the other hand, is not only an unfamiliar product, its also Honda's first entry into this segment of the market. Our previous experience with the CB300F (with which the XR300L shares its engine, although there are numerous differences between both) tells us that this Honda engine is peppy, reasonably fuel efficient and can hold a quick - but not breakneck - pace on the highway. If we were in your shoes, we'd wait a few months for the XR300s' deliveries to begin, take a test ride and then choose between it and the Xpulse.

I need to choose between the Honda CB350RS and Triumph Scrambler 400X. Please help me decide. - Daily commute to work: around 20 km - Very rarely go on long rides - Height: 6 ft The Scrambler 400X fits me perfectly, but I am not able to get over the Honda’s smoothness. Also, how much mileage can I expect from the Triumph Scrambler 400X in city driving with light to moderate traffic? I ride smoothly.

Of the two, the 350cc Triumph Scrambler 400 X is surely the more capable machine in most scenarios but if you like the Honda CB350RS more, you should definitely go for the Honda. Especially, since you are only going to use it for your daily commute. The CB is likely to be more fuel efficient than the Scrambler, especially inside the city, although fuel economy is something that's quite variable and depends on your riding style, prevailing traffic and weather conditions as well as a myriad of other factors. There is also the fact that the Honda is much more affordable than the Triumph, and if you're mainly going to be using it in the city, then the added premium that the Scrambler commands may not feel justified, as you will rarely explore the full breadth of its capabilities.

I am a first-time car buyer. Please suggest an SUV that is easy to drive for a new driver who is not very confident behind the wheel. I am looking for a car with very light steering for heavy traffic and parking, good ground clearance, a 360-degree camera, and a CVT transmission, as I feel CVTs are easier to drive in traffic. What about the Honda Elevate CVT? It offers good hood visibility and ground clearance, but I am not sure about its steering. I also feel it is a bit long, and it does not have a 360-degree camera. Could you suggest other options that would suit my needs? Are Hyundai and Kia IVTs better than CVTs? What about the Nissan Magnite CVT and Renault Kiger CVT? Would an EV be a better option? Overall, please suggest an automatic car that is easy to drive for someone who is not very confident behind the wheel. I would prefer a car that meets my requirements, but I am open to better suggestions as well.

For a first-time driver who is not very confident, the Nissan Magnite CVT and Renault Kiger CVT are the most natural fits, while the Honda Elevate CVT remains a good choice if the extra size is manageable. The Magnite and Kiger are compact, have light steering, good all-round visibility, around 205mm ground clearance and 360-degree cameras, making them particularly easy to place in tight traffic and parking spaces. The CVTs are also smooth and predictable, which is useful for a new driver. The Kia Seltos 1.5 IVT is another good option, and its IVT is essentially a CVT in operation, but the Seltos is larger and therefore not quite as unintimidating as the Magnite or Kiger. The Honda Elevate CVT has several advantages for a new driver, particularly its good bonnet visibility, upright driving position, 220mm ground clearance, light and predictable CVT and 5.2m turning circle. Its 4.3m length, however, will make tight parking slightly more challenging than in the Magnite or Kiger. The current Elevate's lack of a factory 360-degree camera is also a drawback, although the upcoming Elevate facelift is expected to get a 360-degree camera, which would make it a considerably better match for this requirement. An EV can be even easier in traffic because there is no gear changing and the response is very smooth, so the Punch EV is worth considering if home charging is available.

I am a first-time motorcycle buyer looking for a bike in the Rs 2.0-2.5 lakh range. I am 5ft 3in, so I need something with a lower seat height and manageable weight for comfortable use. My usage will be around 80% in the city, with occasional 300-400 km highway trips. I have shortlisted the TVS Ronin, Yamaha XSR 155 and Royal Enfield Hunter 350. Which would be the most suitable option for me, and are there any other bikes I should consider at my height?

Your research is absolutely spot on, and the three options you have shortlisted will surely serve your intended purpose quite well. However, which one is right for you is a decision only you can make because all three are quite different to ride.The Yamaha XSR155 is the lightest and sportiest of this trio and will be faster than the other two. What it will not be is as comfortable as the relaxed Hunter and Ronin, which score quite highly in terms of overall comfort. These two have mellow, torque-rich engines which will make for an altogether different, more laid-back riding experience.Given the magnitude of difference between all three, deciding between them warrants a test ride.

When will the RE Interceptor 650 facelift launch? I am waiting for the updated version. If so, can we expect a twin-front-rotor setup?

An updated Royal Enfield Interceptor 650 has been on the cards for quite some time, and yes, twin front disc brakes are quite likely to be part of the package. This setup has been spotted on quite a few test mules in the past and should likely improve the Inty's stopping performance - something that has been a point of contention for owners for many years now. RE is likely to focus its energies on the upcoming Himalayan 750, which is due to be launched at its MotoVerse festival, after which we could perhaps see this updated Interceptor launched.
